dammskog, I did the same thing...no joy. Next, I deactivated the mod then uninstalled it. My data directory still contained the wasteland_1024_no_map.dds file and some preview pictures. Moved the wasteland file to ./textures/Interface/Worldmap directory. (If it doesn't exist, create it).
Fallout.ini in your games directory needs to have bInvalidateOlderFiles set to 1. I didn't need it as it was already set...but I checked it anyway.
I have added two new files for download. A new alternate colour and monochrome map style with new colours and a new paper texture with less intrusive creases and effects. It's basically just a remix, no better or worse than the original (up to personal tastes, I guess). Thumbs and screenshots in the images tab. New versions only available separately for now.
Hope you like them!
(I can't believe that the in-game replacement has become more popular than the printable maps. The PDF maps are the focus of this download set!)
The fold lines that make it look like a scanned pre-war map ruin immersion? I personally don't have any problem with them in-game, since you can still see all of the roads, and all of the icons appear boldly on top of the creases.
I'll look at changing the in-game map slightly, but it won't be for a few days (working Friday to Monday). Still, I think removing what makes it look like and old map is defeative of replacing the in-game map at all.
Maybe you'd prefer one that was missing data? You know, make the game more difficult by removing landmarks? A hand-drawn map of your fathers perhaps?
You can view the map minus the terrain and trees or what not. Nothing but nice clean remnants of roads where they should be in game. The Printable versions are great plus. Nothing like a hard copy as you play.
