i really dont see the point of this mod.

    as to killgore's comment
if you die 2-5x encounters, and you have a lvl 10+ char. then you must be doing something wrong. mine is lvl 87 and has no fear anymore.
its funny to hear gutsy for a short while. bots are best suited for guard duty. i use them to keep deputy weld and the water begger alive, deathclaws fear to tred around megaton.
works well in places where you dont want to be bothered by those worthless raiders who aint got nothing you want to pick up anyway, leave a dozen bots there, and keep moving as the bots slaugher them each time you pass by. bots have thier uses but not as companions, they are to noisy and get in the way to much.

Meh, I find this mod not to be a real good idea. But you know, I'm surprised nobody has made it so the bots DON'T REGENERATE HEALTH AFTER EVERY BATTLE. It's retarded, you don't have to upkeep them or anything. I'd be greatful if you made a small modification to fix that, since I'm too lazy to learn the syntax for the fallout 3 scripting language type thing (is it lua?)

    Hmm..

I'm more for realism than balance. If I have bots with me and on my side, I have more firepower, albeit, quickly dead firepower as I play with lots of enemy spawned etc. It's great that you're thinking about balance too, I'm just not sure how having a few bots around makes someone worse at shooting etc.

If the bots 'skills' and ability were defined by the players science [can write better software!] then me thinks that would more applicable.

I'm still all for your mod even if I'm not going to use it, as I'm sure there will be others who prefer it.

I largely agree with Killgore: if you run some mods that make things more challenging or realistic, the bots aren't that tough, although Gutsys and Sentries can dish out the pain. Controlling more than two is a total mess when moving around indoors (esp. if their sentries..they won't even fit through many doors). Having an army of servants is just stupid - you might as well play in God mode, although managing them almost isn't worth it. Personally, I'd like to see the Robco perk changed so you can only control one robot per level of the perk (or a mod that does this). I would also love to have the ability to customize bots - for example, hacking their CPU to have more accuracy at the expense of some AP, or using a Power Armor Helmet and a Sensor to increase a bot's weapon range while perhaps decreasing its health slightly.

killgore: I don't see the point of cheating like that. You might as well play it in god mode. I think the point of this mod is make your character more like a Necromancer or Warlock in a traditional RPG. It's like a pet class, Fallout-style.

With the RobCo mod, the robots' fighting ability are based on your Repair and Science skill. Most people don't know that.

Here is how you play with the RobCo mod.

    - Start a character with 9 Intelligence, TAG the skills Repair and Science. Run/swim to Rivet City ASAP to get the Intelligence Bobblehead. Swimming helps sometimes to avoid enemies. You'll probably need to take some Rad-X.

    - Max out your Repair first, which gives your robot more health. At the early stages enemies don't have much life, so you'll want healthier robots. You get 150 or so more HP per robot at 100 Repair. But just get 90 Repair so you can save 10 Repair for the Bobblehead.

    - Next max out your Science. Again, just get it to 90. It makes the robots do significantly more damage.

    - I maxed out my Intelligence, Repair, and Science by level 7 and my robots are pretty darn powerful.

    - Then get an army of 4-5 robots ASAP. You can run to the RobCo Factory. There are plenty of robots, Fission Batteries, and Scrap Metal there. I believe you can kill and take the two robots from Megaton (the Protectron in front and Mr. Gutsy in the Armory) but I didn't go the evil route.

Basically at level 7, with 5 Protectrons, 90-100 in Repair and Science, no Raiders can hurt you. Mercs with rockets or grenades can, so you have shoot them yourself. You can kill the 3 rifle wielding Super Mutants with ease. In the battle against the Behemoth Super Mutant front GNR Station, you should be able to kill it in under 15 seconds without a Fatman and, at worst, lose only 1 robot.

    - You want to go Big Town and take the Sentry Bot. Now with 4 Protectron and 1 Minigun Sentry Bot, you can even go after multiple Deathclaws really easily. In fact, I died more from the Sentry Bot shooting me with a rocket than all monsters combined. You gotta watchout for that.

    - Make your way to the Vault-Tec headquarters and get a few Robobrains to replace your Protectrons. You should have something like 3 Robobrains by now.

    - Somewhere around level 14 or so, when you're about 1/2 through the game, you should be able to get to the Robot Repair center. Go there and take the 2 or 3 Sentry Bots that are there.

Once you have 3 Sentry Bots and whatever else robots you gathered, with 10 Intelligence, 100 Science, and 100 Repair, then you are pretty much tricked out. With those stats Sentry Bots will have like 350 or 400 HP.

The best fun is then to unleash your minion army in Paradise Falls. You can take a companion and tell him to stay back with a Hunting or Sniper Rifle. This will make your private army pretty much invincible. But *DO* *NOT* *TAKE* *DOGMEAT*. The Sentry Bots will rocket him, I promise. <img class=">

So if you think the RobCo Certified robots are weak, you are just playing it wrong.

One more hint, make a home somewhere like Big Town and save your robots there. You don't want to take the same robots for everything. Sentry Bots are good, but they will rocket you and each other. When you plan on going indoors, take several Mr. Gutsy instead, the Flamer does more damage overall. Leave the Sentry Bots to guard the poor citizens of Big Town. <img class=">

I don't know on what difficulty and with what mods if any you play with but those robots don't last long with me in a fight, plus they don't kill who you want and when you want, also you can't play with 5 robots in dungeons , even 2 are already constantly in the way and if you want to let them fight you'll have to move in front and then backup behind them and eventually wait that they finish the job or be destroyed most likely...

Sorry but this looks like another mod tought by someone who had an interesting idea but who doesn't play the game enough and make modifications that simply don't fit the reality of the game.

I have now played 60-70hrs controlling 2 robots using robco and it will definitely not work well and be also horribly boring to play.

I can already see you "cheat" constantly making them follow or wait depending on if they are useful or just too clunky to be of any help. All this mod is going to do is make you activate and deactivate them all the time.

But I don't only criticize, I have alternatives for you :
    1) let the robots fight alone until they are destroyed
    2) use a crappy pistol or rifle if you want to fight with them that way you will do weak damage but still help a bit

It requires no mod at all, only a little self-control, and the result will be exactly the same as your mod !
I played robco like this from the start.

As many many many other mods on nexus people modify things that are unecessary because they don't really want a challenge or for example want super weapons that don't kill ennemies too fast (uh ?), I personnally use a cheat mod to get unlimited weight and I carry enough weapons for 10 armies but I don't use them...until i feel like it and I die 2-5x in almost every encounter I have with raiders,
if you can't refrain yourself from shooting the experimental MIRV in every fight no mod can help you I'm afraid.
Nice idea but as I tried to explain it's useless and can be replaced by moderating yourself.

And it will also have a "cheating" side effect unless you modify the mod, you will repair them more often and get XP for it all the time, kind of an exploit really.

    p.s.
I play with FOOK and MMM increased spawns so robots die easily, ennemeis got better weapons and are in numbers in my modded game.
In a vanilla game they will die less and be a lot more powerful but all it will change is that you will repair them less and spend more time waiting behind them that they kill the ennemies, its going to be worse actually (boring) less robot managment and repairs than what I have to do.
