I think you and TrappaKeepa would have a LOT to talk about.
Thanks for this, one thing that bugs me in almost all of my games are weapon sounds. It's like the last thing companies do, and hardly work on it. People like you and Trappa give permanent, large amounts of noticeable variety to games.
well, unless youre using subsonic ammo (wich i think is scarce in the post-apocalyptic world hehe) you would still get the supersonic crack of the bullet travelling through the air.
contrary to popular belief silencers dont usually remove the sound, but merely dampens it and distorts it to something less gunshot-sounding...
unless of course using subsonic ammo and speically made silencers...
heres an excellent example of the difference between supersonic and subsonic whilst firing with a silencer (its a rifle, but the same applies to pistols) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=socgmULGVOA
Ok I'm going to download yours again and compare, then update this post with what i found
Oh and i definitely only used mods from this nexus
UPDATE: very strange, i went back though and none were the same except the ones i took from yours... I don't know what happened... I had had issues with winamp playing these sounds like I would keep repeating the same sound bit and it would change and go back very few trys (maybe something with that happened?). But I could have sworn... oh well sry for that...
And my only real point of criticism, the silenced 10mm still has that loud report going off into the distance at the end of it, so you here the silenced shot then you here this sound bit traveling off into the distance as if you had just shot a rifle or an intense pistol
Ok well sorry, i should have been a bit more specific in what i said, i dont recall the names of the gun sound mods i mixed and matched, but what happened is this: I was comparing the sound files i already had to the ones i was thinking of adding from this mod and at least 3 guns had the exact same sounding files between what i had and what this mod had
PS: oops yeah i only named and linked that one because its the only one i could recall, i made the mistake of not investigating further myself
yeah, dont worry apoca, like i said, i have nothing but respect for the few that actually do record their own sounds so i would have given you proper credits in the readme.
its just that i have been making soundmods for neigh on 8 years now so i kinda know wich sounds are rehashes and wich ones are new ">
Reading through the comments I was a little concerned at first since I did do a lot of my own sound recording, but after having gone through Oddball's pack twice I have not found a single identical file between his mod and my AG one. It's great to see that people keep an eye out for these things, though!
Ok, so now im confused... you say that some of the sounds are the exact same as some other soundmods here?
i downloaded all three soundmods that are here (that replace gunsounds) and none of them have any sounds i use... granted, one of them had an assault rifle sound that was very similar to the one i used, but hardly the same.
also, just as a fun sidenote to all those who dont think soundmodders "steal" from other mods, one of the mods here had redundant files that had the filenames used in Counter Strike: Source ">

If you're wondering who Trappa is, here's his FPSB profile:
