I. Overview

A. What is "OverMightyGold"?

-Overmind + Mighty Joe Young + Gold Coins and Bars-

OverMightyGold adds real gold bars and coins to the Fallout 3 game world. The goal is to provide an immersive player experience by increasing the breadth and color of currency.

B. Why Do We Need a New Gold Mod? Didn't Mighty Joe Young Make This? What does yours do?

Multiple changes have been made in this version, all to help the immersion and usability of the original mod by Mighty Joe Young. See the changes section. You may consider this a version 2 of his mod.

C. What is the rationale for gold to exist or be of value in the Fallout universe?

The value of gold has not been addressed in NPC post-war dialogue. It is assumed that some value continues to exist as it is more tangible and rarified than dilapidated paper money. But rumor has it, the Enclave has been either stealing or smelting gold bars for storage and eventual pressing into currency for payroll and trade. Didn't think the Enclave used bottlecaps did you?

D. Does this version add a quest?

This version has no quest scripting, but has a bit of a questlet, in the form of a note/boss/key/treasure scenario. I don't want to say too much.

E, What new objects are added exactly?

Gold bars, new and scratched, have been added. These bear the Enclave logo. Gold coins which have been minted by the Enclave may also be found. Older Indian-head coins and even some from ancient Rome may be found. There are eight new objects in all. There is a "gold bulk" of a treasury-worthy stack of gold bricks included in the mod, but not in the game itself. It can be used as a modder's resource. Mighty Joe Young is responsible for the brilliant mesh and texture work on these.

II. Changes

A. Availability

1. The Fortune Finder Perk - works with this mod now. Those having chosen this perk will enjoy increased chances to find gold coins.

2. Safes/Lockers/Desks/Crates/Etc - Previous version had it that gold objects had guaranteed appearances in such containers as "tool cabinets" and the like. It is one thing to enjoy finding a gold coin here and there, and it is quite another to find 10 gold objects on one dungeon crawl. This happened far too frequently during my play-throughs. Guaranteed appearances have been removed except in specialized cases (who do you suppose is likely to have a bar or two of Enclave gold?), so you must use your head for increased chances to find. The chance to find in high value containers (such as enclave lockers and crates, safes, etc) has been set to 20%. "Low Value" object containers, such as old lockers, cabinets, and tipped-over filing cabinets will no longer spawn gold.

-You must be level 10 to find gold bars (unless hand placed)

3. Vendors - Previous version: "Enclave" gold bars and coins were sold by a few vendors throughout the wasteland, whom were guaranteed to be in stock. Now, only coins (which they presumably found) are sold by vendors, and they have a 20% chance of appearing in the for-sale list at all. The vendors are: Moira Brown, Megaton; Lydia Montenegro, Tenpenny Tower; Anthony Ling, Tenpenny Tower; Seagrave Holmes, Rivet City.

B. Visual Immersion

1. Pipboy/inventory alpha channel icons have been added for all objects, individualized per object.

2. Spelling and capitalization have been fixed. "gold bar scratch" and "julius ceasar coin" become "Scratched Gold Bar" and "Ancient Julius Caesar Aureus"

3. Several grades of quality have been added; "Worn", "Chipped", etc.

C. Values

Changed prices on objects to reflect an expected, reduced value of gold in a post-apocalyptic environment environment which is based on necessity. New prices changed to reflect this and for cohesion with weights, etc. See full list in the readme (spoilers). However, most coins are now worth around a hundred or so caps, and most bars are worth around a thousand.

D. Gameplay

1. "Questlet" added, which leads to a "treasure trove".

2. Collect gold objects in general. Many have "Enclave" branding, so loot adjustments have been made to make discoveries more intuitive, though rarified.
