Background Idea:

The I.B.S. Cannon was developed post-war by a former vault scientist after his untimely ghoulification. It is the support weapon of choice for ghouls finding themselves in "sticky" situations. The high levels of radiation delivered to the target will cause severe rad poising and a sustained increase in rad levels. A single shot will kill a normal smoothskin within a few seconds without a prompt dose of Rad-away. The hyper-accelerated goo also covers the target in a sticky coating making it very difficult to move. Even though it has a relatively short range the IBS is certainly deadly to pesky smoothskins.

Primarily developed for use against smoothskins the weapon's radioactive nature makes it less than lethal to fellow ghouls and other wasteland mutants. Muties will not be affected by the radiation, but it will still hinder their movements long enough for a fast get away or long enough for a fellow traveler to deliver some hot lead to the gooified foe.

IBS cartridges are packed full of highly radioactive brahmin crap. The cartridges only hold two "rounds". Frequent reloading may be an issue for the trigger happy, thankfully the cartridges are cheaply available due to the abundance of brahmin poo and the steady supply of ghouls willing to pack them.

Installation:

Copy folders and .esp to your Fallout 3 Data directory. You may need to use some method of archive invalidation to get the textures to show up but this will not change anything in the vanilla game. To play the test .esp check the "WK Test IBS Cannon .esp" in the Fallout Launcher and check "load loose files". To un-install delete the "WK" folders in the Meshes and Textures directories and delete "WK Test IBS Cannon .esp".

The Assets:

This is really a modders resource of a new gun. The way I have it described and placed in the test .esp is how I wanted it for my game. I think it could make a decent energy shooter if poo isn’t your thing :) Please feel free to use/change it for any of your modding needs. If you want to use it for a mod a PM or an email would be nice.

I've included blank texture templates to make it easier if someone wants to re-texture it. I think I did a pretty good job on the maps. AFAIK there's only one spot by the green lights that stretches badly.

The Test ESP:

The only game changing thing the test .esp adds is that it sets raiders as playable races. NPCs are immune to radiation damage and it was the only way I could get the gun working with a pseudo-radiation effect with my limited knowledge. In a nutshell I’ve set up my fake radiation effect to only damage playable races. I then added a timed glow shader to simulate radiation. It also has a craplike burst effect when it hits the target that leaves residual radiation like the fatman. I also used the dart gun effect to simulate being slowed by being covered in crap, again probably not optimal but the best I could come up with. I’ve also added some custom sounds to make it sound like it shoots crap, although they may be a tad too cartoony for most people.

In the test .esp a static copy of the gun can be found on the workbench in Underworld. Tulip in Underworld Outfitters is also set up with a re-spawning chest that has 1 gun and 50 ammo for sale.
