FANTASTIC! Thanks as much for the mini tutorial as the mod itself as I was able to quickly figure out to customise it. Basically I removed the XP line because I already have an XP mod, and then altered the damage values (dealt to 0.45 and taken to 2.4). This is sort of 30% harder than very hard, i.e. my attacks are 10% weaker, but my enemy's 20% stronger, than very hard. But the point is these values can be tweaked and tweaked some more. Cheers. Endorsed.
So I followed your steps with FOMM and TESSnip and reached the proper lines that I need to edit. BUT, for some reason, I can't seem to edit those lines. Nothing happens; neither edit, delete, or add new ones. Any suggestions?
A bit late but: you have to highlight the entry then go down to the lower left box and double click on the word DATA. This brings up a box with an entry you can edit and save.
Is there a way to edit the files with Nexus Mod Manager, or other? I know I'm late for the party, but this seems like the only mod to actually let me customize Hard Mode in a meaningful way.
you can use F03edit to edit the values in the GSMs (game settings). I'm trying to do this now as we speak, I was just looking for the appropriate value for fDiffMultHPByPCVH which handles how much damage you do as opposed to enemies.
Mmmmh. Makes realistic damage mods very fun and easy. Set both damage mults to 5.00000. Gunshots now hurt very much for everyone involved, and getting cracked across the skull with a baseball bat will knock your block off XD.
Best to combine that with something that increases the sway and inaccuracy of guns, tho.
Yeah even on Very Hard, by level 14 (using slowest.esp XP mod) I had many unique weapons and good perks / armor which created a massive YAWN FEST. What really pissed me off was that I was able to blindly wander through the mall trenches and kill everything with a few vats shots from my Ultra 10mm sub MG (superior defender perk pluss all the other shooty perks is brutal). BUT I noticed that when they bum rush you there is a very good chance of dying (fine with me)
Cmon! By level 14 I was cleaning super mutant clocks on very hard mode EASY without the super hockey mask or action boy. Only way you can die is if a bunch hit you at once but then u have 400 stim packs and med-x for that.
By the way, the enemies in Point Lookout were done well. To be honest, without explosives at 90 and tons of Bottle Cap mines I would never have gotten through it. I barely survived the initial defense quest and the funky guys walking around that looked like hicks were as tough as mutant brutes or better.
One last thing, leave the XP bonus intact, a lot of mods are dedicated to fixing the XP issue and that will mess with the formula.
i want the game to be really hard but i want it to take far less for each character to be killed. could i just use something like player damage: 300% npc damage: 600% player xp: 150% ? IS THIS THE MOD I WANT?
ssitri, I realized this long ago so I made the note in the description: "Setting fDiffMultHPByPCVH affects your companion damage as well. Lowering fDiffMultHPByPCVH will lower your companion damage but raise the damage it takes." It wouldn't matter if I customized the Normal, Easy or whatever, because it's just a placeholder for your own custom settings, and it doesn't matter if the placeholder is VHard or Normal. I don't think there is any way around this dilema you brought up, though maybe you could change the HP of your companion, but that's outside the scope of this mod. These variables can also be changed in console. The purpose of this mod is so that you don't have to modify these variables through console each time you play.
the only problem I see is followers on very hard mode. they are basically TANKS, you can 'hide' behind Fawkes or Cross, do your 33% (or even less) damage and sill win... some fights are boredom.. and no, playind without followers is not an option ">
although author isn't playing anymore, he's visiting this topic time to time.. ">
My suggestion is: could you make possible to edit variables of Normal (at least) mode. On Normal followers are quite fragile and with modified damage done/taken variables game become to a real hardcore ">
I'm not a specialist in TESsnip and moding, but maybe existing version of mod allow us to choose which difficulty we modifying (i.e. Normal instead of Very Hard)?
