The only question I have if anyone knows, do I download all the files? Some versions have different files in them. Normally an author that removes the files integrated the function into another file. The HTML that comes with the file goes into great detail about the changes and what the mod does, but doesn't say if I only need to install just XFO v084b-334 or all of them.

I guess it makes sense to have an online link is some cases, but that link is for 83b and the file XFO_Readme_Current.html that comes with the download is newer.

First off this mod is great and I haven't used it

But I've been using a certain weapon mod that uses new ammo like 7.62mm and since its hard to come by new ammunition I use the HT Unlimited Ammo mod, does anyone happen to know if this overhaul is compatible with the unlimited ammo mod?

Whoo... (brain oozing various fluids)... lotta material here, and too much for a noob to do more than peck at.

You've heard this before, Xodarap, but... nice work.  For what that's worth, coming from a kindergartener.

But I'm stuck.  I have Steam/FO3 1.703, recent download, plays fine, and I have latest NMM, and I installed XFO latest;  but nothing I do keeps it from crashing the entire desktop anywhere from 10 ns to 3 sec into the main menu.  That is, I go to Library, hit Play, and the load screen comes up where you can tweak graphics and load data files and such;  then when I hit Play on the load screen, FO3 begins loading, and well before the "Continue" link is ready, game crashes as well as the entire desktop.  Gotta pull the plug and the battery, and restart entire computer.

Installed FOSE on the chance it was needed:  couldn't find any requirements.  When I launch from a shortcut linked to fallout.exe, same complete crash occurs.

Also tweaked fallout.ini to add the lines that disable Quad Core and permit only two cores, as well as ArchInvInv.  But my machine's already only got two cores.  So same complete crash occurred.

    Disabled multiple monitors.

Got new memory, a pair of 4's running at 1600;  computer came stock with 2x2 at 1066.  Got an SSD instead of HDD.  W7HP.  dual core 2.2 AMD in a Toshiba.

There seems to be a number of paths I could try following, but I could use your piƱata metaphor here:  dizzy and blindfolded, swinging wildly.

I just need to "buy a vowel", and I've looked through dozens of these posts here, and can't find any reference to XFO causing crashing.  But when I "uninstall" it with NMM, game works just fine.  So XFO might not be the direct cause, but there's something I'm missing, that comes into play when I install XFO and try to play.

"Help me Xodarap-Kenobi, you're my only hope."

Probably something to do with the way NMM is installing it. Install the XFO files manually, one file at a time if you've got the patience, and before long you'll be playing FO3-XFO. Good luck

I was halfway through my game when I came across this mod and I didn't want to change the game significantly halfway through, but I really wanted to use the ammo rarity mod because the ammount of ammo available in the vanilla game is stupid. So I used the ammo rarity high mod and initially loved it. Instead of finding ten bullets in an ammo box I would find only one. I find myself running out of ammo and scrounging everywhere, and being excited when I find some placed ammo of fifteen or so, because that's a windfall. This is JUST what I wanted.

But the mod only seems to work for common bullet types and shotgun shells. It doesn't change 5mm, energy cells, microfusion, grenades/mines and missles. I think this creates a stark unbalancing of the game. Why are there fewer common bullets which can be manufactured compared to sophisticated ammo that can't?

So for this reason I think I'm going to disable it again.

If you want to stay close to the original game feel then this series of mods is the best imho. Does not stray too far away and adds plenty of tweaks to enhance the gameplay without going overboard and is highly configurable. I prefer this to all the "overhaul" mods which go overboard ridiculously far and turn this game more and more into a silly FPS shooter.
My only minor gripe with this series is that some tweaks are a bundle and cannot be selected seperatly.
    Otherwise great and endorsed.

Is this compatible with FOOK at all? Sorry if it's a bothersome question but I didn't see any specifics on the read me as far as what popular mods are compatible and what aren't.

    SWEET!

    Someone archived the old readme!

That's lovely - I didn't know if it was gone forever <img class="> Too bad about the stylesheet. Someday I'll have time, but in the meantime, FWE incorporated much of XFO and is much more recently supported, so I recommend that instead <img class=">

Erm this could use a description or a actual site, the little description is a tad to short for my download.
