@All: I wanted to let you guys know that I have uploaded an updated/improved version of this mod (with Kelenius permission of course). It has some minor differences, but the spirit is the same. Here it is.

Thanks again Kelenius for letting me upload it.

Awesome. This makes my Fallout 3 experience even more endless. Great alternative and very balanced; good job! Also, someone should port this to NV!

I would like to have a no skill requeriment file, because now almost all the books I find are useless

with many of the below options I agree; i play a challenge rating current called naked scout: no armor just my wits and while I love what you've done with the perks from books im not a big fan of the perma stealth field. with 8 agility, silent running and the 3% stealth im basically a ghost and the challenge goes out the window. i'll be switching the stealth field for 5% extra critical damage or chance. if you want to make it balanced though how about adding an internal clock kind of like stealth boy but make it where the stealth field only lasts for 20 to 30 seconds at best. also give it an internal cooldown like 2 minutes before you can use it again. Or change the stealth mechanic so that if you attack or interact with anything the stealth field drops leaving you vulnerable

Fantastic idea, I completely agree with the author's reasons for making this mod. I recommend using 'SPECIAL is Fate' to make your character a specialist instead of the vanilla Jack-of-all-trades (load BookPerk after so the Comprehension perk doesn't conflict). I also use 'Wasteland Mastery' 'Max Level Work-around' and 'Extreme Leveling x5' (also, I've placed Wasteland before SPECIAL)

Brilliant mod, but I sort of agree with others regarding the stealth field. The first thing I did was make it drop when in combat, but it still felt sort of wrong. The invis field feels like technology, so I am trying something a little different. I have added a 5% boost to crit hit damage per level whilst sneaking IF the enemy is not alerted.

I will test this out and see how it goes.

First of all, great mod, I wouldn't want to play without it!

I wanted to ask if people here have experience with the repair skill perk? I gained two rank of the perk, but it doesn't seem to have any effect? (I know it requires FOSE, I use it.) My repair skill is at 100, is that the reason for it no longer having an effect?

I think the mod is no longer being updated, correct? If I'm wrong and it is still being worked on, might I request an alternative approach to the stealth skill perk? (I know some people like the stealth field, so maybe an alternative esp?)
Personally I feel the stealth field quite overpowered. The Stealth Suit from the Anchorage DLC gives only a +5 stealth field and I have read that players are hardly detected at all anymore when wearing it. Besides, I like taking screenshots and I'd like to be able to make pictures of my character sneaking.
I know I have the option to just *not* read the sneak skill books (that's what I'm doing currently), but it would be nice to have an alternative sneak perk.

    @ BaneSixEcho & Grifman:

I'm not sure I understand your questions. First your character needs to have 70 in the skill you want to read about. If you try to read a skill book whe your skill is too low, you'll get a message telling you so. When you raised the skill to 70, you can read four books (three if you have the comprehension perk) to get the first rank of the associated perk. After that, you can't read any more skill books, until you raised your skill to 75. Then you can read the next four (or three) books for the next rank of the perk and so on.
Without the comprehension perk, you can gain five ranks of the skill perk and you'll need 20 (5x4) skill books in total to achieve that. If you do have the comprehension perk, you can get 7 ranks of the skill perk and you'll need 21 (7x3) skill books in total (if you got the comprehension perk before starting to learn from skill books).

Yeah, I'm confused where books come into this. Can we get some clarification here? Thanks.

After reading the description I have to ask: where do the books come in?

    skill of 70 + read 5 books = perk rank 1?
    skill of 75 + read 10 books = perk rank 2?

You may want to edit the description to clarify what role the books play in this mod.
