actually it's better in up close but farther away and looking close to the ground it's worse - it's called "flat effect", so i'll stay with the vanilla one hoping someone will make a real hi-res retexture.
Mipmaps are an integral component of a 3D game texture. It essentially is progressively scaled down version of the main texture used for texture quality settings, and for distant LOD; since it's further away, less detail can be seen anyway, so it loads a smaller texture.
Also, your normal map's specular channel is all white, which is making the street litter all glossy. It needs to be all black. Save it as a DXT3 with an all black alpha.
I was just doing a little playing around in the newly released G.E.C.K (huzzah!) and when I tried to mod the Meresti Metro Station 02 I got this warning:
TEXTURES: texture does not contain mipmaps & will not be used: texturesarchitectureurbanStreetLitter01.dds
This is not good. All the street litter is now showing up as just a mesh (with a bright red texture indicating it will not be used). This hurts my feelings )': Is there any way you can fix this? Or anywhere I can get the original texture back (I forgot to make a copy of the original fallout, derrr...)? But, I have to admit, it does look a lot better, I'd rather have this so try and fix this please! ">
Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I had wondered if I should include the mipmaps or not, but after testing I didn't notice any difference and so left them out to save a little space... I will release a new version as soon as I get back on the 6th of January (I'm currently in service with the army over Christmas.) Those who are not encountering this problem can carry on using the old version until then! ">

I have copied all files in .../textures/architecture/urban...
And I updated my ArchiveInvalidation-File!
But ingame, I have the same litter with black borders like before...
