I REALLY like this idea (I too was disappointed by both the Overseer's office and the limited choices to finish this quest).
I think you could expand this to make it even more awesome and flexible... my suggestions:
After the TL is over, if you use the Chinese Invasion option, you should be able to use Braun's lounger to: A) Kill Braun (positive karma, since 'merciful') B) Reset the simulation to "Realm of Madness" or something equally horrible (for negative karma, but the satisfaction of tormenting Braun for eternity!). Requires high Science skill.
If you ended TL by doing Braun's sadistic tasks, using his lounger should give you different options: A) Kill Braun and reset simulation (positive karma) so the other sleepers live on in blissful ignorance forever. Moderate Science needed. B) Deactivate simulation (positive karma), so all die 'mercifully' of old age. No science check? C) Reset simulation to something horrible for ALL residents (major negative karma and evil-ness!). High Science required.
Oh, and I also like your idea of letting the player skip TL entirely with a VERY high Science skill (realistic and 'rewarding' to very 'academic' characters) if they access Braun's lounger before going into the sim themselves.
I'd be more than happy to help with all this, or even do it myself if you don't want to (just PM me), but would love to hear what you think of the ideas, since this is first and foremost your mod, of course.
Again, even as it stands, this is a great and 'essential' mod, IMO.
