Advanced Recon Armor.esp keeps unchecking and wont stay checked  and LOOT indicates  in a highlighted  red sentence that Advanced Recon Armor.esp   needs to be activated or installed

ya, I am having the same issue.

Last year 2023 / Feb .. there was no issues???

Installed just fine with NMM ( current version )

      Now it seems it's useless???

This mod was a staple in my play throughs.

Random question: What's the black beret you are wearing on the black trench coat version?

A very late response but hopefully this will help anyone: You need to rename the .fomod file extension to .zip and then just extract like a zip file. Now, you might not be able to do this because your system might by default be hiding known file extension names (and if you can't see them you can't change them). In which case you'll need to un-hide them. In Windows 7 this is a check-box buried a little ways into the windows explorer's folder layout and view options. In Windows 10 it's somewhat easier to find - open the windows file explorer and at the top of mine is a tab called "view", click on it and over on the right there's the option to show file extension names.

      Well nice explanation streetyson.
But as for the extension - there is a more easy way: use total commander instead. :)

I am also getting a warning on Vortex that this mod is intended for use in Oblivion, when up until very recently I haven't had that issue before and have used this mod in the past many times as well. Do you know of any fix for this, or is this something I need to worry about, as I am not sure if this will cause ctd"s or not?

Same, shame. I really enjoyed this mod in the past.

I actually came here to s post the same thing, but saw your post, regardless , of when you posted, going to do a bit more googling n see if I can't come up with something, ..
Not started using vortex, when that popped it was a little confusing , n can't seem to clear it ?
I sent them a report from vortex itself , and asked them if in an update they could add a thing / choice to turn off the mod update checks , and thus not receive the oblivion warning, I doubt it tho, ...
      Aany googling  found -
      Spoiler:
      Show
       You have 3 choices:

      • Ignore the warning and play as you usually do but please keep in mind that any irregularities in the game are potentially due to the incompatible archive.
      • Report this issue to the mod author and ask him to update his mod using the correct archive packing tool.
Disable the Bethesda Archive Check extension as seen below - again, any irregularities in the game are potentially due to the incompatible archive. (We will not offer support to users who opt for this option)

But I think I have found is going to pluggins and using the drop down menu, mark it as ghost, not sure about that tho, but the little info says ,
Ghost is " an esp enabled in current list "
So maybe give that a try

"Do you know of any fix for this"

      Don`t use Vortex (or LOD).
      Manual is the best way.

Thank you very much for this
How could I overlook this gem when I was on my first FO 3 playthrough long time
    ago?

Perfect for my new playthrough (OS Win 10, game version GOG).
Installation (fomod version) with Vortex worked like a charm on my end.
This applies for AdvancedRecon Thermal Nightvision as well

"...All of the new items can be found on a table in the National Guard Armory..."

Actually, the "National Guard ARMORY" according to the wiki is Fallout 4 only, and only gives instructions to get to it in Fallout 4.

However, if you search for "National Guard DEPOT" in the wiki, you'll find the place referred to here.
