as far as I know there is nothing like this for weapons in world space, if you mean bForceHiResWeaponModels, then it only affects weapons in the hands of NPCs
I haven't tried Tale of Two Wastelands, so you should check it yourself, make a backup of the same name folders just in case. If the file structure is the same as the original game, then there should be no problems.
I checked it so I will say yes and no: firstly there will be no problems if you use the patch together with Iron Sights Plus, because it directly replaces only one texture of the three-beam laser rifle from the dls, I checked it and did not notice any problems, secondly and most importantly you will not notice the effect of the patch on energy weapons because the Iron Sights Plus meshes have their own textures and path to them, this is true for retextures, either they will not work like the laser pistol, or only partially like the laser rifle. I will have to give up Iron Sights Plus in favor of Weapon Enhancement Pack, I fell in love with these textures but they turned out to be incompatible :(
I really wouldn't tag this as a bug fix, it's an intentional design due to how the texture memory management works. Far less of an issue on current PCs vs consoles, but it's still an intentional optimization.
I understand that this is Bethesda optimization, but my manipulations fixed two textures, if the rifle was fixed by an unofficial patch, the revolver no one as far as I know. That's why I added the bug fix tag.

Is the WRP patch usefull for the simplified version ?
You mentioned the bForceHiResWeaponModels setting, where do I find that ?
bForceHiResWeaponModels is a tweak in lStewieAl's Tweaks and Engine Fixes only for Vegas/TTW
And that explains why several scrolling back an forth in FO3 Istewies fixes didn't reweal it :)
(Might be jip in as well)

Endorsed :)
This is a warning in general, as there is already an unofficial patch.
