This feels like a modern Bethesda rehash of dungeon design where they have a one way tunnel with all the loot being put in your inventory automatically so you don't have to search while you just shoot things and eat donuts...Starfield for example, or Skyrim's linear dungeons. OG Metro is Yuck? More like Yum good sir.
Steward square in your mod where the manhole has a ladder that leads up, when you get there it shows open and close on the ladder but no way to climb it. In that section you cannot get out of unless you go back, also I noticed right away a couple blank doors that you can go through to get to the other side and where normal again once you went through. In DuPont circle there is a pile of un-textured rubble. I was curious as what the changes would bring, but so far in a quick play through I found 3 bugs in about 5 minutes of play. It is a nice idea for a mod, but very ambitious in scope, I have a feeling there are more bugs than the ones I mentioned above.
On a personal note of the design choices for this mod, I found that a lot of the DC world was lost, many locations to use the metro are gone and overall I feel if this was done in the vanilla upon release that people would have complained about limited content. I guess there is a place for this type of mod, but something just felt missing for me, maybe I played Fallout 3 too much to have such changes.
I am looking for to play a couple other of your mods that I think will improve the game, Tranquility Lane and Lamplight, I am hoping since they are smaller in scope there will not be the bugs as in this one.
Good work and it is good someone is actually making these types of mods.
Thanks for the feedback! Yes, the mod is extremely ambitious, and there are lots of bugs in it. I'm not perfect, there are flaws with the mod, and I hope that one day I can get the motivation to fix them. Anyone is free to add onto my mod, but ultimately it is my responsibility to push out a quality product or not, and I appreciate it when new perspectives can show me where I can fix things I didn't notice before.
The design choices for this mod are extremely subjective, my primary goal was to make navigation easier than it previously was. I can 100% understand why someone wouldn't like my mod, but my main audience for these mods are for people like me. If you don't like the mod, you're not forced to use it.
I hope you do enjoy my other mods, but they may have bugs I have not yet noticed. I try and update my mods periodically, so if you let me know whats wrong there's a decent chance I'll acknowledge it in a next update.
Funnily enough I have been looking into Metros as an aside to a personal project to figure out how the 12 (14) cut DC neighborhoods fit into the overall DC section of the Wasteland Were I to decide to make a mod out of this honestly silly endeavor I'd probably try restoring some of the cut metros that went with the cut worldspaces and also restore connections to ones still existing.
No, Broken Steel isn't even a requirement for the mod. Even if it was, I've made sure that all quest related tunnels are either untouched or still work as originally intended.
You are a true hero! The Metro system was by orders of magnitude the worst part of fallout 3. Since 2008 I hoped someone would find a way to get rid of it, or at least overhaul it. I think I might just give fallout 3 another playthrough. Thanks a trillion.....
Thanks, I greatly appreciate that, it encourages me to do this stuff :)The metro was really annoying to deal with, and if no one else had done it for over a decade, figured I'd get my name out there lol
The suggestion makes a compatibility mod for Busworld better eng translation. Aside from that would be interesting to see a metro tunnel that's 100-together that isn't simplified.
From what I see, and correct me if I'm wrong, this only affects train cars and the like, not the metro tunnels themselves. It should be compatible, but it may not.
