Hi Sternjaeger, Not sure if this will post, but I just downloaded this for the FO3 GOTY edition, and when I play the individual files on a media player, currently using VLC, it works great (nice job on these improvements by the way), but then when I swap out all the videos from the folder with these files, it does something weird when I play the actual game. At the very beginning, when the intro starts, it seems like it gets stuck on a frame and appears to show anything else, but the music can still be heard in the background. Is it wise to simply replace the video files or should use a program to mod the game instead?
I would love to play this game with the upscaled version and have already seen the videos using VLC and they all work great. Not sure why replacing the files would cause it to not play it correctly. I am using a decent gpu and cpu, updated my drivers, everything else works fine and when I swap the original files back it works just fine. Maybe there's a codec I need to install/uninstall? I don't know much about this topic, but I'd be more than happy to answer questions and/or upload examples as per any requested.
Just so you know-- the English version of the "all videos" file is corrupted from "B20.bik" onwards (alphanumerically sorted)-- the files page won't even show the file contents of the archive, and NMM can't install any of it. It cancels the install upon failing to read the whole archive. Other than that, what's accessible looks good.
That really IS weird. No problems with other mods on my end- maybe the server it's on is in a country I can't connect to well or something? I'll try a manual download and see what happens.
-EDIT- That's just very strange. The Nexus download page says the file is 1.9 GB, but for some reason Firefox is only seeing and downloading a 1.0 GB file, and when I load it into JDownloader2, it only sees 1020 MB. I'm going to try Chrome or something.
Okay, wtf? I feel like either nexus mods or my isp is in some weird and utterly pointless conspiracy against me at this point. this ONE mod, shows as 1.9 GB on the site, but no matter what I use to download it, NMM, Vortex, Chrome, Firefox, JDownloader2, it gives me a 1020 MB file which no mod manager will install, and the only clue I have is that 7Zip only shows up to B20.bik and can only extract the files leading up to it and not B20 itself. Is there really no one else having this problem? I don't blame the mod author- he's doing the best he can with the information the Nexus website gives him, but right now I'm so confused I don't know what's going on. It doesn't help that I've already been questioning the US government's BS a lot recently, considering my school education only taught me the white male "pleasantville" version of history and is still bribing my local news station to lie about shite on a daily basis. I need a drink.
Hey guys, I just tried downloading that file (manually) to check for you and I had the same problem - win10 laptop, latest Firefox (v102.12). A 1gb completed download but when I try to open it says "Windows cannot open the folder. The compressed (zipped) folder is invalid." And just in case it's some wierd Firefox thing, I then tried Microsoft Edge, same file size and got same problem.
Thanks for letting me know I'm not JUST paranoid. I mean, I've been losing my mind enough recently. Sorry for my tangent yesterday, if you couldn't tell, I have a few... (shudder)... Issues. (begins twitchily peering out the windows) lol
That would be greatly appreciated if and when you have the time, but no rush... I don't plan on reaching Broken Steel anytime soon on my current playthrough. So no worries- but I'm here to test that it's working when you DO reupload it. :D
I was actually thinking of making my own 4k version, because I had been considering this for a while, but it never did look quite right regardless of my topaz settings, not to mention it takes so dang LONG to process, even with an RTX 2060, and my month-to-month budget just does not have room for a new GPU right now. Maybe one day, or maybe you or someone else will beat me to to the punch. Your 1080p version honestly looks better than my 4k attempts anyway. I'm really good with traditional forms of video editing, restoration, and compression, but AI based programs just seem so unpredictable to me. So, you did a very good job with what I've seen of this. Honestly, the 2060 was a stretch for me to begin with- I got a very good deal on a refurbished and upgraded machine, but the GPU power cabling was done with cheap daisy-chained adapter cables that caught fire two months after I bought it. Fortunately I was resourceful enough to completely reorganize the power cabling with new cables, and none of the actual hardware was damaged in the fire. haha - nothing teaches you to be resourceful like being poor. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for more, considering the PC was priced about the same as 2060s were selling for standalone at the time, and I STILL had to finance it.
@Sternjaeger - yes, prob best try reupload because whereas the other 3 file previews work, the English vids one says "Content could not be loaded at this time." This tells me it's a Nexus issue, poss a corruption during upload but, as Nexus states its a 1.9gb file, then more prob a glitch afterwards? Could an error have happened when you fixed a typo? - don't see how but I guess anything is possible.
@bryantn3 - rtx2060? Wow, I only updated to Win7 in 2020 after buying the monster - aka, gtx1050ti - as it wouldn't run on WinXP.
Yeah, tbh, I do a lot of video editing and such, so I felt it was worth it at the sale price, especially because I like restoring obscure old movies for personal viewing, as well as hobby 3d modeling, and 4k hdr is a pretty nice viewing experience. Although the monitor I also saved up for was a cheap Chinese one that gave up the ghost after one tiiiiiny little cat pee incident. When it comes to gaming though, probably yours is a better value, unless you want ray tracing, although now I'm kind of thinking I'm might have been better off waiting a few years for the 3000 series to lower in price- it does okay with reshade raytracing in most older or non-aaa games, like fallout 3/nv, jrpgs, etc, but for fallout 4 I have to limit myself to 1440p low quality ray tracing with reshade, or medium quality ray tracing 1080p. I had dreams of running cyberpunk and it looking halfway as good as some of the youtube videos out there, but nope, low settings, no ray tracing, not even good DLSS performance with a 2060. I feel like it's in a painful spot where it's trying to do more than the 1000 series, without the extra performance of the 3000 series, and really just ends up performing worse than both. Anyway, call me a paranoid pessimist, but when the US either goes authoritarian or the government and economy collapses, either one will be as useful as a really, really overpriced doorstop anyway, so I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts. Maybe I'm wrong though, and God has a future planned for our gov't yet still. Hearing the gunshots outside daily and seeing the cops in my city arresting and shooting more protesters, children, and charity raisers than actual criminals doesn't give me a lot of hope, though. Not to mention my state legalizing concealed carry of firearms without a license which has led to a spike in the crime rates as well as children and teenagers getting expelled on a daily basis for bringing their parents guns to school.
Btw, must point out I'm not using this mod - only came here as my avatar spotted Sternjaeger's and wanted to say hi! I'm mostly a retro-gamer, but coupled with an i7-3770, my gtx1050ti (with low draw distances & other optimisations) even does FO4 @1920x1200, at least in Windows 7. I recently got a 1650-super but saving for my next monster rig! Paired it with a Gigabyte board and i5-9400 (for those 6 cores) because against Microsoft's wishes, intel relented to pressure and released a 2.0 version of H310 chipsets with Win7 compatibility. It works great - I'll dual-boot it with Win10 as my next retro-rig, but don't need it just yet so it's all carefully boxed up.
But geez bryantn3, I'd prob be on-edge too in your shoes. Things seem a bit crazy right now. I'm in Britain but getting old so recall the nuke tensions of peak Cold War, our 1970s power cuts and "winter of discontent". I know the US too (worked there in the 90s & early 00s) - it's a land of extremes in many ways, both geographically and politically. And the world seems to be going through another difficult phase - with emphasis on the word "phase" - for these things, in my experience, go in swings and cycles. So hang in there! [edit 30 June 2023 - finally got a download to work, but adding note here to avoid bumping long thread to top of page, cheers]
@Sternjaeger Thanks will test the dowload. Sorry, been having such a bad heat wave here I was afraid to boot up my computer for very long. That\s why I took so long to reply. @Streetyson I hope you're right. Thanks for the reassurance. It's just, many in the US think that our society is unbeatable and will last forever, not realizing that when compared to some other nations, 233 years is a drop in the bucket. (the original part of our Constitution was not ratified until 1790, despite ratifying the declaration of independence from Britain in 1776). I mean, heck, the Roman Empire lasted more than a thousand years and still collapsed from growing too big for its britches. Also, some people seem to think that the "One nation, under God" thing from our "pledge of allegiance" means God gave us the okay to do whatever because we're chosen or something. What it actually is supposed to mean is that we're accountable to God, I think. I've always been told that many Europeans think most Americans are idiots for being shortsighted and unable to consider the circumstances of the rest of the world. I don't know if them thinking that is really as common as I've heard, but I'd say it's a deserved insult for many Americans. I've even been guilty of it myself. I think we can chalk it up to the brainwashy educational system, as well as the fact that we're so resource independent because of our sheer landmass and entirely overkill military system. I fear it will be fairly soon, although I hope not ( I think. It might actually be time for people to wake the hell up actually), but eventually it probably will be the downfall of our country if the people in power don't stop being so greedy and blind. I admit, the US has things pretty good in terms of indiviudal freedom, civil liberties, etc, but the income inequality is ridiculous. They say the top 1%, but it 's actually more like 0.1% of the population owns 99% of the wealth nationwide, and those few idiots have recently started taking away more and more education and freedom from the poor, and stirring up all the poor white people who are statistically and situationally at risk of being mislead into racism to begin with. Anywy, sorry for rambling on , and again, thanks for the reassurance.
As I'm back on my "monster" rig (win7, i7-3770, 12gb, but faster broadband, more storage), I retried the 1.9gb vid downloads. The French one was ok but initially the English one yet again failed at the exact same point (1.05gb) as they previously did for bryantn3, and for me on my win10 laptop (see older thread below). But I tried a 2nd time and it worked! I then checked every single English bik, playing each one to completion via VLC player and they're all fine (btw, I'm using VLC palyer v2.2.8, latest is v3.0.18).
But note, though the other 3 files' Nexus "preview" tabs work, the English videos one still does not, at least for me (as previously noted) it still comes up with "content could not be loaded at this time" - even after my eventual successful download attempt. Odd.
For TTW you can prob paste them straight into the Vegas Data/Video folder (but first make a backup copy of any originals). At least that's how it looks in my older TTW 3.2.1 install (though I prefer FO3, I've not yet uninstalled FNV-TTW, and keep it all for reference).
Wishing there would also be the German Version. I have the German Version of both FO3 and FNV installed if this could help. Just don´t know how to get it from the files and how to share it.
Absolutely. If you have the New Vegas intro, i'd like to have it too. Get to my DMs with the files, please just don't rename any files, keep their original names.

But this is just a video, nothing more: no ini, no esp, etc..
I use Vortex, there's no problem with installing at all..
Well I can only tell you to just use the intro then, not the other videos.

Sadly, I can't do the Italian version, as I get an error when i try to get the Italian files from the Steam server (files down?).

Just put everything in a folder, and zip it up with WinRAR. Then send it on Google Drive or Mediafire for free.
You can contact me at Sternjaeger on Discord.
