    Hi. I have a "problem" with fallout 3, and I hope this is the answer.
    My specs are: Sapphire HD4870 1gb; Core 2Duo 2,13 Ghz; 4 Gb RAM 667 Mhz.
    Now I'm running the game with all at maximum, but I have a visual issue I don't like: The distance at water looks good.
    I have noticed that distant water doesn't look as near water. It's like just a blue polygon and there is an ugly line separating "near water zone" and "far water zone". I'd like to increase the distance that water showns great. Note that I would like to change the WATER detail distance, not every element in game (this would drop too much my fps). Will these modded ini files work for this issue? If not, is there any command line I could modify in .ini files? I've tested the "unearwaterradius" command, but this is not the answer.
    Thanks

    Hey, nice work, I can see some effort went into this.

    I am having a similar problem to some others, whenever I launch fallout using FOMM, it autdetects settings, after running the launcher.

    I'm going to try fiddle around a bit, but for now, I'm not going to rate it. *

    Over all the new settings Look Great, This is a nice mod but I can not use it when I try to launch my game it autdetects even in FOOM and the normal way so I am not going to rate yet two, I am going to play around with it and try to get it to work wish me luck.

    @Thorn79:
    You make good points, but with flawed reasoning. Fallout 3 is not equipped to change clock speeds or adjust voltages or otherwise add strain to your hardware. You need specialized tools to modify your hardware to run out of specs.

    That said, a real concern is overheating. Make sure if you are going to peg your hardware at it's limits, that you have adequate cooling. Installing thermal sensors and thermistor controlled fans is a good idea. I run some pretty hot hardware and typically max detail, but I also invested about 50% of my gaming rig's cost in cooling and a very adequate power supply. Relax, tweak away and HAVE FUN!

    You absolutely can do what I did using http://www.tweakguides.com/Fallout3_8.html In fact, I encourage it <img class="> Everyone's requirements are different and I recommend that you start from your own .ini and simply plug in my values accordingly. These .ini are for reference to display to others how I play the game. I never made any wild claims about 'bug fixes' or other such nonsense, this is simply a stable config that is an improvement over very high. This is what the purpose of my config is and I achieved it successfully.

    I purposly did not alter the lighting or other visuals that would spoil the original "look" to stick to my claim that it's an ultra high+ config. Also, the draw distances are improved over very high as well as decal count/time, shadow counts and fade distances (Level of Detail settings remain the same as Very High, altering these upwards prove to be unstable so they were again intentionally left untouched), plus other tweaks I won't bother to mention here as they are available in the description.

    My config draws low block/tree details the entire viewable map distance, also you will get *some* form of popup simply because of the Gamebryo's engine culling. A review of the facts proves that my config has better draw distances and better drawing; This is the truth. Please keep your comments constructive.

    I am playing with a config, that i made out of my very high "lighting" config with a little help of the tweakguide, and i have much bigger draw distance, than with your mod <img class="> and much better drawing...

    No mention of what system specs are needed to run this mod. This mod apparently pushes the game more so than the ULTRA maximum limits. Over tweaking INI files like this can cause instability and damage to computer hardware. Not a good idea.

    Better idea would be to create an INI that uses LESS demand on the computer hardware and gives a better visual image. Making a computer that runs on HIGH look like ULTRA without a hit on performance or a strain on computer hardware.

    Anybody can edit the values in the INI to higher values, but the game developer stressed what was appropriate for the ULTRA level without damaging computer hardware.

    Your mod if that's what you call it. More like a tweak, is over demanding for MOST computer systems by far. You must have a MONSTER rig to be able to use this and even then, I'm sure you're taxing your CPU, VID CARD, and RAM well beyong their limits.

    Rating removed.

    I have kept some of the text of your post, though, as it is at least detailed and fairly constructive.

    Ok calm down folkes, I am only releasing this to show others how I run the game and have it stable on my machine. I am giving you my full config so others can compare the values i've set to their own, I've tested these values for days now, I played through the whole game using them. It was as stable as Ultra High for me, fps and all. I admit I have a strong system, but I never said it would improve performance; This is for people with FPS to spare.

    You'll notice that draw distance LOD 'shape changing' is the same as ultra high. I did not touch these portions because upon experimentation it proves to make the game unstable. The game does not want it's LOD values adjusted, so I kept them the same.

    What I did was adjust other values like building draw distances because you'll notice even on ultra high building 'popup' in the distance (note: jefferson memorial). My config elimintates that by using the values provided. I've added more detail to the description to provide the 'standing out' features of my cfg, so just take these values and put them into your falloutperfs (which is here most values are changed)

    @TheNexxusOne

    Confirmed, I've seen that happen to me once or twice; i'm looking into it.

    @Thorn79

    Don't be so dramatic, you cannot possibly physically harm your system this way. It's not overclocking anything, merely having the game engine draw more at one time.

    Yeah i wouldn't recommend just dumping someone elses ini over yours.

    I used Beyond Compare to compare my inis and his and coping over what I wanted.

    Your FalloutPrefs.ini is whacked out compared to mine - it's like is has Fallout.ini stuff in there are well.
