As always, reporting bugs I caused, anything that I didn't fix that falls within the scope of this mod, or constructive criticism/ideas are welcome. Thanks! 💜
Thanks for the mod. I always thought Tara's undessicated body made the plotline confusing as I also assumed they did the mission years before, but there she was, fresh as a daisy (albeit very deceased). So this fix will cure my lore OCD about it.
As a side note is the same also true for Prime's body in the Jury street metro station during the Xuanlong rifle quest (from Jiggs in the Museum of Technology). I was never quite sure if the messages were from long ago or recently, in game time.
Anyway, thanks for still working on these little details.
I'm not so sure about skeletonising Prime. His corpse doesn't appear until after you get the quest from the Museum terminals (or after you go there?), so from that I get that Prime died at some point shortly before the player goes there.
Good point. Yes, Prime's body appearing is a scripted event so best not to mess around with it. We can assume it's recent.
Just an idea, how about re-texturing older dead bodies to look appropriately dessicated or decayed. I'm thinking about mods like Burnification. Would it be possible to re-texture the 'body' using one of the burnt flesh options from that mod? Being Fallout 3 and Gamebryo I would imagine not easy.
Regardless, I like your mod and all the other ones you've produced. I'll be integrating them into my load order. Thanks.
I did sculpt a suitable mummified corpse model with scraps of raider armour but I just cannot get the thing to rig properly, sadly. I'll have another crack at it at some point.
UPDATE: She's now mummified! It only took 2 years :P
Prob a skeleton but hard to be sure - and note Grady's body isn't a good comparision for, though in a metro, it's not a sealed environment.
I've never seen a year given for the mission she was on - my idea is roughly 20 years ago, dated via Rosie and her kids with Dave, thus: Rosie says she met & married Dave while he was outcast from his dad's Kingdom (and that's when he was a merc). And Rob, their eldest, is 19. Rosie explains after Ralph was born (who's prob 10, based on his siblings ages & info) Dave wanted a 2nd wife to better populate his Republic, so they were already back well before then. Shawna is 17 and *apparently* only ever lived in the Republic, so it would seem they returned roughly 19-17 years ago, Dave perhaps spurred on by needing to find somewhere for his new family - the mission itself may have been Dave's effort for one last big job on which to retire and settle down on, and after it failed returning to his Dad's kingdom was plan B.
A body in a coffin in temperate damp conditions would retain tissue for maybe a year, but in dry conditions can be a decade or more. If dry and in a sealed weapons chamber it could easily be a couple of decades, with mummification then setting in - but she wouldn't look fresh.
I've previously construed two ideas to rationalise her still being a body - one was (like Crowley) she wasn't completely dead, later regains consciousness and drags herself out. Then patched & holed up in the CO's pad for some years, unwilling to give up her dibs on the buried treasure, but eventually dies on a later attempt at it. Another was that she'd just begun to transition to ghoul when killed, so didn't decay.
Yes, the truth is I'm not 100% happy with a skeleton either. Grady is also a bad example as he was, I assume, eaten by giant ants after he shot himself.
I rather like the idea of her hanging on in the Fort and surviving, or maybe she went back. That's mod idea right there.
I did sculpt a mummy model for her body wearing scraps of Raider armour but didn't have much luck rigging it to move and I'm not content to have her as a static. I didn't have any luck working off of the West's corpses either.
So, sadly, it ended up as a skeleton. Maybe one of those ghouls that were mentioned by Dave ate her flesh or something.
Anyways, glad you liked the mod despite its flaws.
