I have a question: How did you remove the shrubs? I'm trying to delete wastelandshrub01 in the geck but whenever I do its leaving behind this ugly black x shaped shrub in its place. How do I get the geck to completely remove it?
I find it hard to believe that a lower end PC (a modern one at least) has trouble running FO3 due to issues in performance alone.
I am inclined to believe that this has more to do with the fact that this game has aged like milk in terms of compatibility (even Win7 has trouble running this game) and also due to the worst thing that has ever happened to PC gaming, Windows 10!
I remember running this game on a Windows XP Laptop more than a decade ago, and it preforming well enough, yes the laptop got heated a bit because all Laptops are inherently sheit, but it did run without much stutter.
Unlike now where you need a vial full of the blood of your firstborn to run this thing correctly.
The game is very unoptimized, so yes it does still run like garbage on lower end systems. Just like GTA IV still runs like garbage on lower end systems today, because it's unoptimized. As for Windows 10, its compatibility for older games is better than 7's or 8's. Including compatibility for Fallout 3.
While I will wholeheartedly agree with the former, I cannot for the life of me agree with the latter!
I will admit this though, Windows 10 does seem to have a better compatibility system than Win7 did, as where in Win7 this seemed more like something that was implemented as an afterthought more than anything else! Although I've never really had that many problems running old stuff in Win7, apart from Fo3 where minor tweeks were indeed required.
However, I can tell you what Win7 did not do! Nearly brick two separate systems almost simultaneously with it's sh*tt* little updates! Believe it or not there were multiple instances where Win10 simply decided to out right to delete Hardware Drivers from my systems, I kid you not it got to the point where AMD had to install purpose built software that prevents Win10 from getting it's slimy little fingers everywhere. And don't even get me started on the crap it regularly pulls, when it decides downloading crap out of the blue in the middle of a game is the best idea ever! A lot of older games and especially janky Bethesda crap simply cannot handle excessive background noise!
There were instances where I honestly thought my processor was about to fry itself, because the game's FPS just went into the sh***er within seconds.
Also there are games that I was never able to run in Win10 like some older C&C stuff, but was able to run them just fine in Win7!
