I used to think FO3 overdid ruined vaults, didn't feel they'd all turn into such rust-buckets, surely? But I researched that even today's sealed metal vaults specially designed for underground use should only last fully intact for 50-100yrs (depending on how corrosive the ground is). Sure, between 2021 and the 2050s & early 60s (when most of Fallout's vaults are built) one might expect some advance in metalurgy, but then there's radiation to factor in, which greatly exacerbates the rusting process. Clearly then, a 200yr old nuclear-powered vault abandoned in the first 100yrs of use and with leaked radiation etc is going to be very rusty after 200yrs. Indeed, even an intact vault should be slightly rusting here-&-there after 200yrs. Perhaps you or some other talented soul could produce, for realism, some tired & slightly-rusty textures?
Thank you for your analysis and your description of the shelters. Indeed, I had at the same time decided to make a slightly rusty and dusty version of the shelters in addition to the version merged with my other mod which add details to the mesh. I will be working on it in a few days. Thank you.
Aye, mulling it over, regardless of scientific/metallurgic exactitude, a semi-rusty replacement set for the ruined vaults would be so cool and immersive, looking decaying but not to the headache inducing full-on rusty oranges that vanilla FO3 does them. But I'm sure it's a lot to ask and the modder has prob moved on. Still, the thought is out there should they or anyone else ever be interested...
I did give it a try, and it doesn't work. It works in general, but many objects are missing and occasionally you get a red exclamation mark. It would have to be ported.
LOVE your work. Any chance of reworking the Industrial parts? On my game, the textures keep flipping in and out no matter what I try. Also, what is your old account name?
Thanks to you, with pleasure! My old account. I no longer know what the name of my old nickname was, it was an old account and when you delete an account the nickname also disappears.
