If anyone's still looking for where to download gfwl, I found it here, since all the official microsoft links seem to no longer exist. (As far as I could tell, anyway.)
i just shared my experience with a fresh steam installation. it ended up with ctd. the workaround ended up with error message. what the s**t is that ? no warning, no information from steam about this. reinstallation doesn't help. so i thought i can help some people with the same problem and with my working and legal solution :). guaranteed no illegal messing with original game files.
