I had the same problem running the tutorial, so I was glad that there was an easy solution: VLC. It works really well. The tutorial shows just how much there is to learn about the GECK. I'm a long way from being able to do anything with it. Thanks for all your help.
You should just have to hold down the right mouse button to rotate the door.
But if your really (still) having problems, instead of dragging a door from the object window into the render window, just try pressing on the room/hall that your working on that has the empty spot for the door. Once that section of the room/hall is selected,
1 - press "Ctrl + D" to make a copy of that room 2 - Then hit "Ctrl + F" to replace that section with the door you want.
You will have to search for the name of the door (but you should be able to see the name of the door from the object window. Anyways, this will spawn the door lined up perfectly with the space in the wall, and now all you need to do is pull it forward to place it where it belongs.
Suggestion: Hold either the y or x key down to make sure that the door only moves the direction you want and not up/down etc.
putting doors in the geck wont seem to work. wen i drag them in they are always laid down, and there isnt a exit wall for suburb houses that i can find. can sum1 help plz?
I had to rely on something other than my trusty Windows Media Classic (WMC) and use Video LAN Client (VLC), which plays everything under the sun without need for additional codecs.
Windows media will not tplay the file, although it founfd the correct codec. Any help please, I dowloaded this 6 times with same results. Oh yeah, I did uncompress it to my hdd first ">
