It's good to have air raid sirens for when the dragons attack.

TheOutbreaks Wasteland Moods Series by theOutbreaks - silent hell fog file works well with this.

That would be very atmospheric, especially at the Dunwich Building

Megaton would also be a suitable location. I put a siren on the platform that projects out from the aeroplane section above Simm's house, although the switch that actually controls it is on Stockholm's sniper platform.

      That is an amazing idea!

I was wondering if there was any way to automatically activate the sirens to ring when hostiles are in the area? (Including if that hostile person is you)

That would add so much realism.

The siren could be scripted to go off when an npc enters combat, but If that npc dies the script would then become useless. I could maybe place a hidden immobile creature in megaton as a sort of combat sensor.

Yes that sounds perfect - make the hidden immobile character part of the local faction I guess? That way if one person from Tenpenny Tower/Megaton/Canterbury Commons goes into attack mode, he'll raise the alarms for the others.

Nice! I think you've done a good job with that.

If you're going to add more sirens, then I think you should include one at Tenpenny's, but please make it a proper British one (Carter-Gents, with initial red warning and subsequent all-clear tones.) I know it's America and you've got the right siren, but I think Mr Tenpenny might appreciate a nostalgic touch of home. We still have them, but they're mostly used for flood warnings nowadays and they're being phased out to save money.

What'd be great is if everyone nearby scattered and took cover when the sirens sounded. Like in STALKER when the blowout alert sounds, I don't know if it's possible in FO3, but there was an emergency civilians scatter mod for Skyrim towns if a dragon attacked, so maybe it can be done.

Thanks for the idea, I'll add a British siren to Tenpenny Tower in the next update. I'd have to add scripts to all the npcs to make them react to the siren so that might be unfeasible. I could add a new npc that craps his pants when the siren starts but it would just look out of place.

I nearly crapped my own pants when I heard it go off. Coincidentally I was taking a smoke break at work the other day and heard one go off nearby, they must have been testing it before the bad weather sets in, and I instinctively started looking for a shelter. We actually do have one in the basement, the building was constructed in the early '60s at the height of the Cold War, and I've already got my route to it planned in case the balloon ever does go up.

(Combine your siren effect with the radiation storm option in Project Reality for a truly terrifying experience. You'll be sick with fear.)
