perhaps. thank you for your appreciation. i've already wasted far too much time trying to fix bethesda's things. i don't even install bethesda games i get steam keys for anymore.
done.
if you want to continue this work, everything here is yours to use as you like! all i did was dive into the linked STEP instructions and optimize the game assets for stability since the game has a hard time not crashing.
This meets my first primary goal, as a base before applying mods. I'd still like to make FO3 enjoyable. I only ever finished a couple quests in the beginning. Too many crashes due to video card problems. When I purchased a new MSI it ran better, but this project became too time consuming. If there were more interest I'd pick this back up.
Current download contains optimized textures to improve both performance and quality (per STEP-project), and has optimized mip-maps for all textures, and has LOD generated for all world regions.
LOD is the mesh and texture you see at a distance, before the object is close enough for FO3 to render the full detail object.
Place the asset pack in Mod Organizer or FOMM directly after the core game and DLC's, but before any other mods (including the Unofficial Patch). This should be useful to anyone and everyone.
Correct. This is the planning page, and will become the primary player resource. Current focus is still making debug assets.
In time, there will be a simple to use app to install after downloading from Steam that will apply all patches to the EXE, optimize all game assets, install all bugfix mods, and optionally the other major mods, without the hassle.
