I really hate to be "that guy" and I greatly appreciate your efforts and the issues/dilemmas for submods etc, but Moddinghaven is not a legit modders' site - it'll mostly be pirated stuff (logo is even a skull - LOL!), uploads index of mods which (for whatever reason) the authors have decided to pull. And not the only one either - I know of at aleast two others - and I won't be sharing links to them.
Nor will they be safe - for example if you pick the Internet Archive link for Metros Alive you'll find it's already been pulled due to "issues with the item's content" (virus or permissions violation, presumably), the multiup link is unsafe, and catbox is well known to be a malicious/unsafe hoster. The mediafire one does at least appear normal but under the circumstances I wouldn't even risk it...
I previously reached out to Bethjunkie through a mutal contact, Druuler, who's a friend of hers, and Bethjunkie apparently had no interest in allowing another upload nor even letting me (as a temporary/one-off thing) to provide my copy just to those folks on Nexus who'd (in the intervening time) asked nicely for it. And, as a victim of mod piracy myself, I decided I had to respect her choice.
Hey! I know it's been an age since you posted this, but if it still means anything to you, I popped back in and rebuilt it without Metros Alive! Bummer of a loss, that was a great resource.

both of you make an excellent point, they should accept pre-war money first and foremost, but maybe there could be a little machine to recycle caps and give money
PvtPirate was incorrect, and the mod's rationale isn't actually needed either: 1) Lore-wise (Bethesda FO3 onwards, not older Fallouts by Interplay or Black Isle), Nuka introduced spendable caps as a promotion the year the war broke out. You could spend caps in any Nuka machine, shop or with participating partners of the scheme. That is why there are cap stashes in pre-war locations, as it became a bit of a craze. Sounds unlikely to us today but I'm an old timer and when I was a nipper we had all sorts of token and stamp-book schemes. We also took our empty bottles to the store for penny chews, gum and the like. As the game is retro 1950s-to-early-60s styled, saving caps in old tins seems completely natural to me... 2) If you're using this mod with Metros Alive, the machines would've been reprogramed after the war to take caps anyway. 3) All of which is why the mod's logic of a cap recycling scheme, though acceptable, isn't needed. Lore & mod use already covers it.
Would it theoretically work without DC Subways nor Metros Alive? Because I like the idea of the machines working, but I doubt subways would still work after the city getting frickin nuked
Well. The idea of the mod is to give a use to the tickets and to enhance the gameplay if one uses DC Subways; What other use would you suggest it have?
And in its present form, no, the ticket terminals are placed in DC Subways' cells, so this mod won't be of any independent use. :/
