For anyone interested, there's now a TTW port of this mod but you'll only find it via the TTW website and Nexus doesn't seem to like me posting links, so you'll have to go there and look for the thread titled "JLF65's TTW3 mods"
Except, of course, for the cells in the basement of the NG Depot. That said, this was a nice mod. If you have already found some of the Keller family tapes then you will get notifications of quest objectives completed if you go that route. I also tried using the option for the ND ID card short-cut but it did not work on the final door terminal.
But this made the Keller family unmarked quest into a real quest, well done!
"the only place in the game that has a jail." - Except he didn't say jail, his hint merely said where prisoners are kept, and there are quite a few of them, but thanks for trying to spoil the mod.
If I had to hazard a guess... Alex Keller's corpse should be in the police station in that place that's associated with Big Town. That's the only prison in the game that I can think of.
Such a shame a mod like this wasn't released years ago, the FO3 side of the Nexus has died out when it's compared to the somewhat quick revival of New Vegas. MZC is the only big mod still around here... regardless, very nice work! I will be downloading this when I get back to FO3, in a month or so!
Glad people are liking it. I actually started this mod once back in 2010, but scratched it. I'm kind of glad I did as this one came out much better in my opinion. It took a lot of time working around the already in place quest to make the multiple options available to players, but I felt it was necessary as not everyone wants a straight out cheat mod. I know I like having the choice each play through.
One of the reasons FO3 is as dead as it is, is TTW. Why play FO3 when you can play it in FNV with the better combat mechanics, weapon mods, and other changes to the game engine. I use TTW myself and find FO3 to a much better game even if TTW has a few new bugs. But playing straight FO3 is still enjoyable.
Sadly once FO4 is released FO3 modding will be as dead as Morrowind and Oblivion is and that's sad to me because I think FO3 is the better game compared to FNV. People say FNV is better because of all the choices that change the story and I say they are wrong, FO3 has a limited choice but better story for it, the story writers had less options to do so could focus on what they had. FNV's story is watered down and ridiculously convoluted with factions that are useless. Take the Powder Gangers for example, Obsidian fleshed them out and started them strong to be the evil faction choice and yet once you get past Primm in the game they swiftly become a nuisance if you chose to help one character and a useless ally if you chose to not help him or Goodsprings. The real evil character choice is siding with the Legion and that ruins the whole honest hearts DLC. If you choose to be good then they toss 3 choices at you, NCR, yourself or Mr. House and that doesn't last long if you remain undecided since one of the main quests will lock you into a path and fail all quests that are running or not for the other factions but you could still be undecided on what faction you prefer and have a couple dozen side quests for all of them running.
FO3? Straightforward with a more fleshed out story, you knew when you chose a path what that path means, you know when you side with a faction where that faction stood. Then regardless of your choices you could turn and help another faction. there were moral grey areas but no black or white what is done cannot be undone all quests from another faction fail crap. hell you have a choice to put the HEV canister into Project Purity or give it to Lyons before sacrificing yourself at the very end of the game if you don't have Broken Steel. You have less choices but most of those choices do not force you down a single path with no way to redeem yourself. And the DLC didn't contradict those choices*cough..Honest Hearts..cough*.
In regards to the above. I HIGHLY suggest you get this out and make it TTW compatible (I'm not even such an expert with TTW anyways but I might experiment with it one day) so others can appreciate it too!
With all due respect, as "great" as TTW is, it is not without its flaws which seemingly those with little experience tend to overlook without being bothered to actually get Fallout 3 to run as smoothly as any other AAA title with just a little effort (the S.T.E.P guide itself is proof of that, and with ENB Boost you can run FO3 for hours as I do without a single crash or stutter).
If that isn't enough, the simple fact that F:NV has the 140 plugin limitation and I would beg to argue that FO3 has a far greater variety of mods and has its own unique gameplay as opposed to F:NV. Personally, if I wanted to play F:NV I would do so, separately, isolated with its own MO profile with mods I have personally corrected and merged if need be.
The FO3 nexus is as alive as ever, especially with the FO4 coming up and since FO4 is closely based on FO3 (as developers have confirmed) it would be an even greater nostalgia trip speaking of which is the essence of what brings us FO junkies back every so often.
P.S: I speak from experience as I have been modding in the patches I release on my TWPC page for hundreds of hours and I have fixed many an issue physically within the game world so I am still not convinced no issue cannot be resolved, for now!
This is a must have mod for me. Not only is it immersive, it also truly feels like it was cut content that has finally been restored to the game. Awesome mod! Thank you.
I've run a mod for years that simply lets you hack the computer to get into the shelter. The difficulty is based on how many notes you've found. It offsets the difficulty in finding all the notes.
Your quest idea is much better. I'll probably replace that mod with this one next time I play FO3.
