I dont know if you are "alive" in the NMM, but i if you are i really need your help, so when i first installed the mod i saw the vertibird controller, but i thought the mod wasn't working so i sold it (really dumb i know) and now i cant get it back, even if i start a new game,so i wanted to know, could you tell me the controller ID so i could use the console to get it?

The exclamation point indicates possibly a missing mesh/texture. It could mean that you did not install the files correctly, or that you do not own the official "Brotherhood of Steel" DLC for Fallout 3 (will NOT work for New Vegas correctly). Also, make sure you are using the newest version of the game and FOSE. Easiest way to troubleshoot is following these steps for checking installation issues:

      1) VB remote appears in player inventory. (hooks from Arlix123's mod)
      2) VB can be seen flying in after called (hooks from Arlix123's mod using J3X's VB script)
      3) Can enter VB interior (hooks from my mod. Should see interior like in screenshots with "Ace" pilot in chair)
      4) Have option to fly VB (hooks from J3X's script.)
      5) Dismiss VB (hooks from Arlix123's mod using J3X's VB script)

      Solutions for checkpoints :

      1) if remote shows, then mods should be installed but may have been done out of order
      2) if VB flies in, then J3X's framework should be correctly in place
      3) if interior (like in screenshots) is visible, then mod is in place. If interior looks barren and has no pilot NPC, then my mod was installed incorrectly.
      4) Option to fly VB appears, same as checkpoint 2. When trying to fly VB, a lot of times it defaults to first person POV. Trying scrolling the FOV all the way out in 3rd person when flying to see if VB appears then on the screen. In fact, I suggest to ALWAYS fly the VB in 3rd person, 1st person view still suffers from camera "shake" issues.
      5) if you reached this far, everything should be installed correctly.

Another possible issue could be running out of VRAM while playing the game. Even if everything is installed correctly, if you have VRAM issues when the game is trying to render new assets, you will experience issues with excessive pop-ins, missing textures, and missing meshes within the game world. Bethesda games are notorious for having stability issues, bugs, poor PC optimization, memory leaks, terrible RAM management, and random CTD for no apparent reason. If you are doubly certain that all 3 mods (J3x's, Arlix123's, and my mod) are installed correctly in that EXACT order, the game is up to date, and the newest version of FOSE is working correctly, then the issue lies elsewhere. You may have too many mods running concurrently that is consuming all of your system's resources and/or your hardware is starting to get outdated. If this is the only mod that you are using that does not seem to work correctly, then it is most likely due to an improper installation.

Hope that helps you figure out what is wrong. Before my hard drive crash, I made sure all files were present for download and that my files were clean from game breaking errors. Let me know what you find out, and I'll help more if possible.

ouch on the hard drive crash that sucks.... has anyone tried this with a controller or is it still keyboard and mouse only?

The original script was coded for mouse and keyboard. However, if you use some sort of profiler software (Joy2key, x360ce, Pinnacle, etc.) then you should be able to use a controller just fine as long as you setup the profile correctly in whatever software solution that you choose to use. I personally have never tested this, but it should work in theory. Hope that helps.

I added a Troubleshooting guide on the main page to help resolve issues. If you go through the troubleshooter, it should help you figure out what went wrong. BTW.... the vertibird remote is under the "AID" tab in the pipboy and should be listed as the first option under that tab.

I never thought someone would try to complete Arlix123 and J3X's work! I'm in the middle of cleaning up my mod list to reduce conflicts and such (again), so I'll wait for a future update to try it, but I'll definitely give it a go.

Since I'm also in the middle of Point Lookout, I'll leave the suggestion to allow travel to it (or to the Pitt) via Vertibird. If the interior is companion friendly (maybe an exception should be made for Fawkes), we could actually bring followers to the Pitt!

adding the feature to use the VB for fast travel to all the major (and a few minor) settlements is on the design table. However, that I am reserving till a much later update. I want to get the dialogue and quest framework in place first as it is a major focus in this mod's direction.

As for making the interior companion friendly, not sure that will ever happen. The interior is already fairly confined and adding more meshes with collision properties could result in undesirable consequences/issues. Also, I have not really looked into what it takes to get a minion into a DLC worldspace to be honest. This again would be a feature that would come much later if I decide to go down this path.

if you do not quite understand how to install this mod correctly, I would be willing to try and help you get it working. It sounds more complicated than it actually is. For most part, everything is just plug and play.

    This

    is

    SO

    AWESOME !

Really dude, a great idea, I will have to try this some time, even when it means I have to be cautious with it.

So nice to see that good old FO3 still gets some love, despite New Vegas and upcoming FO4.
And this is more than a simple bug fix or ease of use mod. Much more.
An improvement in quantity, not just in quality, if you get me here.
Didn´t expect anyone with noticeable modding skills to take on such a complex new feature in this good old game nowadays, actually.

By merging these two parts and adding a quest line to aquire the remote for calling the vertibird you will turn experimental improvements into an actual and believeable gameplay element.

Sorry if I sound exhilarated. But it is because I am.
Hope you will keep on working.
Sadly I am an amateur so I can´t help in any way.

But please, feel cheered (have no pom poms to swing, though).
This is a very ambitious project.
I hope it will come to fruition soon !

glad you like it ! Arlix123 and J3X did a really good job on the scripting part for the VB. There is an Update to my mod in the works! There are more changes made to the interior (mesh fixes and more improvements to lighting), and more work with the dialogue framework has been put in place (although still not 100% working correctly). The dialogue has been a major issue for me. I may be trying to attempt things that the engine can not handle correctly, or I am just setting it up incorrectly. I found a couple of guides on the subject, but they have not been much help. But fear not... I plan on trying to have this project much further along before the release of FO4 (I'm sure FO4 will sap much of my free time).

Hey, every time I call in the Vertibird, it just doesn't arrive. Is there a certain area I should activate it, something I have to do, etc?

@ CrappyModder--> If everything is installed correctly, then it should work as intended. If the remote is showing on the pipboy (under the Aid tab), and then activating it, a message should appear in the top left corner stating "The Vertibird is on the way". If it does, but the Vertibird does not show, it is because of one or more factors.

1: Either FOSE, Arlix123's base mod, and/or my mod is not installed correctly. Try retracing your steps and make sure that the folders are in the correct place.

2: Mod conflict : First conflict would be if you are running any other Vertibird mod. I don't know why you would, my Vertibird mod should be the only one active in your load order.

3: Mod Conflict : You are running an overhaul mod like FWE. As far as I know, my mod is not compatible with other like this.

4: Missing DLC : You do not have the required Brotherhood of Steel DLC package. For this mod to work, BoS MUST be installed. The Vertibird model itself along with all the scripted flying animations are pulled directly from BoS assets.

5: Load order : this one goes hand in hand with the mod conflict from above. Try placing my mod all the way down to the very bottom, below every other mod in your list.

6: Bash Patch : A lot of users who run a lot of mods like making a bash patch to help with game stability. I strongly suggest that if you do use WyreBash, DO NOT include my mod in the bash patch. Instead, place my mod AFTER the patch. This will ensure that nothing in my mod was overwritten or merged with other mods with conflicting data.

If you go through those steps, hopefully you should find the error. If not, let me know, and we can try to figure out what could be wrong. No one else has reported any problems yet, so I'm pretty sure your issue is just an oversight somewhere.

to all other users --> If anyone else has experienced any issues, please let me know. I want to make sure that CrappyModder's difficulties is an isolated incident and not something that I did wrong when compiling the mod.

You said that it is impossible to gain ownership of the vertibird due to the quest not being ready... does that mean that the player cannot actually fly it yet?

that's not exactly what I meant. In the future, the "remote" that calls in the VB to your location in the World Cell, will be acquired after finishing "Ace's" quest chain. Until that framework is completely finished and working, the remote is automatically given to the player upon game load. All VB functions are working currently. You can enter the interior, store/recall items from containers, call/dismiss VB, pilot/fly VB (read controls on Arlix's page). Nothing has been removed from the scripting functions of the original mod. I am only trying to add and improve on what has already been implemented.

Is this/will this ever be compatible with Fallout NV and/or TTW? Because the only way I can use FO3 is through use of TTW.

If this mod becomes popular, I will look into it. As the mod gets towards the end of the development cycle, I will try to get in contact with the TTW crew to see what changes have to be made for compatibility. But it really depends on how the development of this mod goes, and if I am able to get any help with the quest and dialogue routines. Hopefully, I will be able to do this in the end. But honestly, for right now, this is not an option for the near future. My apologies.
