If you somehow find out that the image for this mod in your pip-boy is. . ."glitched" (I don't know what to call it. A Artifact?), Here's what you do to "change" it. You manually download the file, You open the archive, delete the texture folder and add the mod to your mod manager. After all that, Activate it and see if you get the "Icon Not Found" on your pip-boy image. I don't know what to tell you if it does not work for you but it does for me and I don't have any trouble with using the mod after that.

Let me also just say that this is NOT a fix. It's more or less a "Walk Around" of the problem. Unless the mod author himself takes a look into this problem but I doubt it. Not with this much time have passed.

I have version 2.0 almost ready for upload. it repairs armor and weapons. +20%. any body armor, any weapon.

there is a issue ive found that seems to be unfixable. something to do with the engine. it makes no sense. im trying to resolve it before upload. its not a big deal to me. it has to deal with clicking only the armor repair with no armor actually equipped. you must restart your client (exit your game, and start it back up) and it works perfectly again. i will likely upload it tomorrow as is, seeing as i havent got to work on it in 2 days, and i have a busy weekend. i want you guys to enjoy it.

Great. im very glad its working for you. yea, in there, you have some kind of menu mod that improves your experience or just the large amount of scripts running will do it. maybe if i bumped up my priority on the script it would work better..... moving on. it works.. thats good enough for me. in the new Fallout 4, they will have a great repair system back for us, so none of this modding will be needed at all for repair mods. i dont wish to break immersion completely either.

ok. so, was thinking. yea, i could design a mod that takes currently worn armor and repairs it. thinking in my mind how to code it, it would be nearly the same code as what i have now. just have to differentiate between what type of armor (head or chest piece or pants and so on... there are many types of armor in the game, unlike skyrim, this game makes little use of them, probably because engine limitations... it can be done, but im sure its a pain in the ass, so they just stick to simple ones). i will look into the commands to feed the game for that. assume there is a command, i will be on easy street to making it happen.

I will think of an item already in game, that is common. not everywhere, but not sparse. making it so the savvy users wont just add it via console. its easy enough that the tool has the ability to bump up condition conveniently, the last thing i want is for the user to use console for help. and it breaks immersion completely.

I will think about the item i wish to collect to make it happen, and then how to (reliably) choose armor for repair. I sure wish i had played this older game when it came out, i played new vegas 3 times, and skyrim before playing this. i like this game better than new vegas. its just a shame the crafting system is so old, and the repair isnt like it was in new vegas. we all know why its like it is the way it is. its the wasteland, and its a luxury to get everything. but come on.... in newer games made by the same company, the NPC's can repair to 100 without help, and the weapon repair kits are really VERY easy to get your hands on, and build... this is just bull. play bethesdas way. but i would like to say... rather than playing that way, which I do, i horde everything and repair is at 100 on my toon. we can add in the features that are already in the newer games.... to end my pseudo rant, i will say.... i believe if bethesda gave their guys longer than 10 months to scratch up a barely finished game, they could and would have added better features like in new vegas. they learned their lesson, and figured out a LOT on making this game. short version: i can tell the places made early development. so can you if you (any user thats played their other games) stopped to think. there are no easy outs after a long dungeon, and so on. i can go on for a long while. but the truth is. i want to go play the game.

i will sincerely look into your request. expect news or a mod to pop up within 2 days i hope. i work 50 hours a week in IT, so i will do my best to get something in a reasonable time span.

hey, looked into this. there is no straight command to do this. i figure out things while im at work doing other things daily.. i will find a way to do this. i will keep you informed.

updated: upon looking at GECK FOSE commands, its possible. i will get this mod going tomorrow hopefully, and get it into beta testing on my machine. the mod will definitely require FOSE.

ok, im adding the no messages version, this should exactly pair the functionality of the New vegas version of the repair. it has no messages. I can think of a few reasons this would be happeneing. Do you have a game thats not updated?, or you have a lot of very heavy scripted mods running. yes, you can overload the script engine. but i doubt this is the case. i presume youre running the steam version, and it auto updates. hmm.. let me know, i will keep working with you. others can benefit in the process.

The "No Message" version you've cooked up appears to have done the trick! I've used it a few times without any trouble. Thank you for putting such effort into one player's troubles. You are correct thinking that I'm using a fairly heavily modded Steam GOTY version (oh-dear, I just counted; I'm running 105 mods - mostly immersion or story mods. I think it's time to pare things down).

After all your work (and what I just discovered) would it be rude for me to ask you for a variant tool? I hope not but if you want to shove this into a corner and forget about it I wouldn't blame you. The tool I've really longed for is one to repair armor like the wrench repairs weapons. Just as the wrench is a representational tool I figure a pair of scissors would be reasonable to fix light armor (or a hammer for folks who use metal or power armor).

Once again, thanks for your diligence and effort.

hello. as I hinted in my original post. I will pull the lines of code out that call the menu windows. In essence, it will do the same thing the weapon repair kits in new vegas do, no menu. you click it and it repairs. while im in there, I will logically see why it could be doing that again. weird thing is.... its working for everyone else.

im at work. once I get home tonight, or tomorrow possibly, I will make the changes, and re upload another version with no menus. and we will go from there. expect it on here very soon.

I'm hogging all your conversations! Sorry about that...
Short answer - It worked ONCE and then returned to same-old same-old! I haven't been able to replicate the success.

Longer answer - I removed the "Craftable Weapon Repair Kits", installed version 1.1 of Wrench Repairs and then deleted the 1.0 esp. Once I restarted the game I gave it about a half hour before trying it and was very excited when it worked. After it started failing again I tried reactivating it but no luck.

It's sitting near the end of my load order but honestly I don't see anything else that might be conflicting with it. I had to manually install it because FOMM didn't like it but it was a very straightforward install so I don't think there's any error there, especially since the effect works correctly. Unfortunately, I'm not a programmer so the only thing on this end I can think to try is completely uninstall it, play for a while, and then re-install it. I'll keep you up to date.

Later the same night - Nope! Deleting the mod, playing (and saving), and re-installing the mod made no difference; same problem as before.

Thank you for your valuable insight. I have spent my night after work correcting this mod. It should now work on your system. version 1.1 is a direct overwrite of the old one. replace the .esp and away you go. the update notes are on the description tab. its fairly straightforward. the largest change was simplifying the code to make each task its own task. while my code may not be pretty, it should function even better.

    I hope this helps you.

Thanks, I'll load it up and give it a workout later (not at 2am EST)! I'll let you know what happens.

I believe there is another mod interfering with this action. the coding is quite simple that make this mod work. I will attempt to run this without script extender, and try to replicate the issue. can you give me a detailed report. from what I can see, you click "OK", and it repairs again? does that sum it up?

I can take the menu out!, that should do it. at any rate, once I get home tonight, I will see what I can do to replicate your issue, and find a workaround, making this mod more mod friendly.

Your summation is correct, I click OK and the routine repairs again rather than closing. I'm not sure what information you want in my "detailed report" but here are a couple of things that may or may not cause interference. I am running FOSE and now that I think on it I am running Craftable Weapon Repair Kits by Nukacool. Obviously I don't use it that much (or I'd have remembered it earlier) so I'll try disabling it and let you know if anything changes.
      Thanks.

Uh-Oh - Praised the mod before discovering an odd problem with it. I open the "Wrench Repair" command and it beautifully does it's job, then refuses to close. Each attempt to return to my menu concludes with an extra 20% repair and the loss of another wrench (ad infinitum)! The only way I can end this eager little beaver's rampage of repair is to load an earlier game. Any suggestions to remedy this spanner in the works? It's such a great idea I would really like it to work.

    This! This is beautiful.

I love using the Gauss Rifle and a few other weapons that deteriorate ridiculously quickly so this will come in handy. As weird as this may sound, I'm looking forward to hoarding wrenches that have finally been given a use.

Thanks for this, will endorse as soon as it lets me.
