If you are still reading the comments here, would you mind creating an optional file in which if you activate the purifier yourself, you die, the credits roll, etc..,. (basically what you already did) and you continue playing if it's Sarah the one who sacrifices herself BUT you also keep playing if Charon or Fawkes activate the Purifier for you?
So, for players with Charon or Fawkes, that would be the option that makes more sense. If you don't have them with you, too bad, it's either you or Sarah.
So basically what I would like to see is an option to bring the companions inside the Rotunda like in vanilla and you keep playing to Broken Steel if you ask Charon / Fawkes to activate the Purifier, which is what I always do.
The one choice that stood out to me the most would have been the ability to send Fawkes in to start it for you. He's perfectly capable, and the radiation wouldn't do s#*! to him. Bethesda didn't do that because they wanted their "standard" Charlton Heston ending they use on ALL their games. Sacrificing yourself when a perfectly acceptible solution exists that doesn't sacrifice ANYONE is stupid. This mod would be perfect for when you DON'T have Fawkes with you - if you still have him, sending him in is the ONLY realistic solution.
Maybe you could extend your mod to look at who you have as a companion - if you have a super mutant (any, not just Fawkes), or a ghoul (there's lots of ghoul follower mods, and even vanilla gives you at least a couple potential ghoul followers), then you should have the choice of sending them in.
But that is the point. This is more or less what I thought Broken Steel should've done. Create a holdup or otherwise a way to stop your companions from entering the room, THEN force you to choose. And instead of just letting you live if you 'sacrifice' yourself, it should kill you, because that is what 'sacrificing yourself' means.
As I understood it, the ending is supposed to be a test of character for the 'good' LW. Most of the moral choices in the game were quite shallow, honestly. They could easily be replaced with a message saying 'Which karma boost do you want?'. What I wanted to add is a situation that presents the player with a choice not between 'good' or 'bad', but between 'what the player cares about' (playing past that point) and 'doing the right thing'.

Thank you for your work! Kudos
