I plan to start work soon on a totally made-from-scratch very high-poly M249 model that, since I would have made it from the bottom up, can be outfited with cool attachments, high detail textures, and appear much better in-game than the one I have now. I'll repackage that new model and replace the original with it in Version 2.0 as well as porting it to New Vegas complete with iron sights, multiple weapon modifications, and multiple camo texture options.
Yep that's exactly what I'm gonna try and do, honestly I don't like the pale gray way that it turned out either. And this time since I'll be building the whole thing I'll get the right specular/normal/diffuse maps to make it look as realistic as possible.
EDIT: That said, anyone who know a thing or two about texturing feel free to try your hand at making a better texture.
Hello, I installed the mod but to my surprise the weapon when my character wields it is invisible and the shooting sound effects are missing, do you know what the error could be? Thanks
I liked the weapon. But the butt to it is terrible. Besides, why did you put outcasts at the gate of the armory? I really don't like it when they make a revision of the game, when they add some things to the game. Couldn't you just put a weapon on the shelf and that's it? And also, I noticed lags in the game, I don't know if they are directly related to this mod or not. I don't approve, I'm sorry.
super late but still gonna say that the m249 has a collapsible stock, not too different than the M4's. its pretty standard. I was a SAW gunner, I would know.
This is one thing FO3 really needed.... A medium Gun. Especially for conventional weapons. There's nothing in between The Chinese assault rifle and the Mini-Gun. The Chinese assault rifle is a good weapon well into the game but late in the game not so much and the Minigun chews through massive amounts of ammo without doing a whole lot of damage. Also The Minigun is not ideal in many situations and some NPC's don't have heavy weapons skills. So this weapon is ideal. At close range it is very effective against just about everything at medium range its still very effective but less so on very tough targets like super mutant masters and albino scorpions. However this is a Squad level weapon and is meant to be used in combination with supporting fire. I travel with a full squad so this is ideal for me and others who play this way. If You play the way Bethesda intended as the lone wanderer then this will have much less use. Those of you who played and Liked Fallout Tactics will remember this weapon and how useful and downright fun it was to use. Same here. Very nice model and animations and sounds as well. I Highly recommend this MOD and give it my full endorsement.
