Hey, zaroth. had a problem with the crashed ship terminal. I had all the perks and skills required to get the information from the terminal but it wasnt giving me the info. after loading up the geck, i found an additional perk you forgot to add in the readme. it was the comprehension perk. just though i might post it here in case someone had trouble with the terminal on the crashed ship ;D
forgive the curiosity Zaroth_0 but when I try to use the emergency console in the downed ship it wont let me hack it and my character is a super-hacker, a walkthrough for you mod would be nice.
P.S. if you cant post a walkthrough on nexus e-mail it please, [email protected]
There is a walkthrough, in the Discovery Spoiler text file included in the mod. The alien ship is actually the very first entry in it.
But yes, your character needs some extremely high stats to hack that. It is a high security, alien console, with little power, and using a language and systems you don't really fully understand. So it requires requires 10 intelligence, 10 perception, 100 repair, 100 science, the Xenotech Expert, Covert Ops, Computer Whiz, Swift Learner, and Robotics Expert perks. There is a way to get swift learner in this mod without wasting a level on it though.
If you do a lot of hacking, Computer Whiz is actually pretty f%@#ing helpful as it keeps you from ever being locked out of a terminal.
But to be on topic, Computer Whiz alone won't help with damaged alien tech in another language. While the RobCo BIOS seemed pretty widely used on Earth, it is by no means literally universal.
went and gave my PC all the requirements... the computer doesn't work! anything else you missed? I am, though, standing right in front of it, and using console... does that matter?
I've just recently attempted to access the alien console and had little success despite already having the required perks, skills and stats. I've only added the Covert Ops perk through console command because I had a game breaking bug with Operation Anchorage where I couldn't even start the simulation which forced me to use console command setstage to get to the end. I've maxed most of my SPECIAL stats with the Almost Perfect perk and the bobbleheads.
Very odd. I've used it and never had a problem. I'll need to look at it later and try to see if something broke.
Just in case you missed something, here's the requirements again. You need all the following. 10 intelligence, 10 perception, 100 repair, 100 science, the Xenotech Expert, Covert Ops, Computer Whiz, Swift Learner, and Robotics Expert perks. Steep, but possibly worth it since after exchange rates, it's worth 100,000 caps.
If it still doesn't work, the code for them until I can get around to fixing it is "player.additem x00130b 11".
Thanks for the reply. I've ended up using the console command as I'm pretty far into the mod at this point to go back to the crashed alien ship.
I've been enjoying the latest version of your mod. The Terran National Library is a good addition and I finally have an excuse to pick up any ruined books I find now. I would suggest to any players wanting to clear out Arlington Library to take a few companions to serve as pack mules as my walk back to Rivet City took some time as I was over encumbered with near 200 books. I also like the idea of thawing out the alien abductees. I was a bit skeptical of it a first but you've seemed to handle it pretty well. I like Reid Underwood's character very much and hope to see more of him in the future.
The only problems I have to report are mismatching skin colors (black face/white body) on some of the librarians and Mr Wallace. Also one of the chairs in the Terran Library at the end of the big table is raised above the ground.
If your looking for some ideas for the next update might I suggest including an option to donate money to Andrew Endicott for some good karma. I like the idea of giving the librarians different clothing but I think that the head librarian should be wearing a civilian affairs outfit.
Heh, that's part of the reason librarians will sell Hercules for cheap.
I might use Reid for New Vegas in the future.
I will not be giving good karma for donations to Endicott, as I am not of the view that "Religion = Good". If anything, it'd have no effect.
The mismatched skin tones is a result of the mod not being a master file. No idea why it's set up like that, but my searches have indicated it to be the only fix. I'm hesitant to make the change before the mod is finished, as I'm pretty sure the game will see it as a new file and force players to start over.

The reward is 50,000 credits though. TSC credits are worth about 2 caps each.

Now, I can't seem to be able to turn it in to Harkin. :S
