Note - I could not personally get this mod to work without using UIO: User Interface Organizer. When I pressed M, I would only get a a blank screen. I could still fast travel, but could not see the map. If anyone else has currently has this problem, I recognize using UIO!
I don't play with add-ons, so I can't use the mod. I hurried, downloaded, without reading the description of the mod to the end. And, the mod requires additions.
For those with "You can't use fast travel anywhere with this map" error - download manual version and install with mod manager, place at the bottom of your load order. It works just fine.
Doesn't work for me. I've installed the latest version (0.52b) that can be used with NMM but no success. Don't feel like installing manually. No big deal as I meanwhile gotten the perk that shows all map markers. Going on foot will let me know the surroundings a bit.
Since so many people are failing at installing this mod correctly, I'll make a step-by-step process in the comments using the manual installation.
First step: Download the manual install file.
Second step: Move all files (Readme isn't necessary to move) into your Fallout 3 Data folder. This is usually C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data or C:\Program Files(x86/x64)\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data
Third step (THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP): Run jipfta_fo3_hud.exe AS ADMINISTRATOR INSIDE YOUR DATA FOLDER. Usually if you have UAC enabled, the EXE won't patch the files because it doesn't have the necessary rights. I recommend running as an administrator either way.
Fourth step: Once inside the command prompt, press A. This will patch two files to make the map visible when using it. Press any key after it's done.
Fifth step: Activate JIP Fast-Travel Anywhere.esp in FOMM or NMM.
Hopefully people will stop having trouble now.
EDIT:
I forgot to mention that if you have any other HUD altering mods i.e. aHUD or Dynamic Crosshair, install Unified HUD by Gopher after installing all your HUD mods.
Here's the thing. I did all of that, in that order, with Admin rights, and I have redone it at least 5 times. It still doesn't show the map. You can believe that I am a total idiot all you want. I am just saying that there are a few select people whose computers aren't liking this mod for some reason. I have tried to figure it out, but nothing I have done has worked, so I am going to live without this one.
Alright, open your hud_main_menu.xml after you install the mod and scroll down to the bottom. You should see a line that says <include src="includes_HUDMainMenu.xml" /> If you don't know where it is, it's in the menus\main folder inside your Data.
If not, something went wrong. Also, you can just add that line to it.
Now, go into the prefabs folder in the menus, and find the includes_HUDMainMenu.xml. Inside that, it should say <include src="jazzisparis\ftaHUD.xml
If not, something went wrong here as well. You can also add that line to the file.
In order for the map to show up, all these .xml files need to be correctly made. So basically, when you install the mod, for some reason the .xml files don't get patched correctly.
It's more than likely your end as I've had no trouble with it.
Oh and just to clarify, you do run Fallout 3 with FOSE, correct?
Does anyone know if this mod has any issues or compatability problems when using it with TTW or with the FNV version of this mod? I can't test it out myself as I am asking for my brother-in-law. I don't use TTW or play Fallout 3 myself.
Any info on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
