I want to thank hairylegs for taking the time to do the monumental effort of back porting the years of work we've done on TTW to Fallout 3 (sans our changes for other reasons). He's done an amazing job and a thing I myself did not want to do as it's enough working keeping TTW up to date. Rest assured we will continue to work together to bring fixes to both Fallout 3 and TTW.

I hope you enjoy all the work we've done, from scratch to make Fallout 3 the best it can be.

I only ask that you be respectful to him and us, if you find something you don't like or disagree with. The amount of work here is in the 10s of thousands of hours and everything was considered carefully. Enjoy!

    NPCs in their underwear:

Step 17 in the Installation Instructions to start a new game is there for that reason.... along with many many other reasons. So please follow that step! I'm tired of seeing users not following instructions and posting this same "bug" over and over and over again in here lol.

This includes upgrading from previous versions as well. Each version depends, but better to start a new game each time upgrading.

    System.OutOfMemoryException Error

Please do not flood this comment section about this. This is a mod manager issue and has NOTHING to do with mod author's fomods.

The exception that is thrown when there is not enough memory to continue the execution of a program.

    What to try:

    • Use this 4GB Patcher on the mod manager exe file
    • Add more ram to your PC
    • Close other running processes and applications
    • Run in safe mode

Just curious, in the requirements section it has "FOSE v1.2 beta2", but in the Instruction section the hyperlink is for v1.3 beta2. Also on the silverlock website it states that 1.2 is the stable version, yet the version ianpatt put as the Main file on Nexus is 1.3. I figured I'd just go for 1.3 anyways. Launching Fallout3.exe through MO2 does give me a 'getfoseversion' of 1 so everything seems fine after step 7, but I'm still curious about these things since extender versions are pretty straight forward in the other game titles. First time doing the process for FO3 anyways. Thx!

No worries I pointed to the latest version even though only 1.2 is required for all. I don't experience crashes anymore

Perfect. Currently testing out the various StewieAI's Tweaks from your recommended section atm, the latest one uses 1.3 seems (updated few days ago). A few of your recommendations seem to be fairly new as well, guess I picked the right time to jump into FO3 lol. Everything working great so far. Thanks again

    Question about recommended mods:

Some of them say add to /FO3/FOSE or /FO3/Data/FOSE, and don't work, OneTweak for example, and Stewies. But work when i add them through MO2.

So is here a way to know which ones are working correctly? like the lightning fix mods, or should i install them through MO2 aswell?

Oh yea, it happened with Command extender too, had it in /FO3/FOSE, and UUF3P prompted that i needed Command Ext. Installed it through MO2 and works now, even tho it said Command Extender was a Copy paste to /FO3/FOSE

FOSE folder should be in Data folder. Step 8 of the Installation instructions here makes that clear. Installation Guide here in the downloads also makes that clear.

Mod managers should and hopefully automatically install mods detecting the correct folder structure.

For example: A mod has Data/FOSE folders with files vs a mod having just the FOSE folder with files.

Mod managers should put the FOSE folder inside the Data folder in both those setups.

Anyone having this same issue, when female characters in Birthday Party at the start of game have sideways party hats?? Only happens when I activate the unofficial patch.

Installation issue. There's an installation guide in the downloads if following the description page installation instructions is too hard. The game isn't using the vanilla overrides inside the UUF3P BSA.

      - Check to see if the Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch.Override file is inside your data folder
      - Check to see if the Command Extender is installed correctly. That override file works with it

I guess it happened as I used modmanager2 for esm hotfix as well. Manually putting in the file in data folder solved the problem.

    Hello UUPFO3 Team,

First of all, thank you for your hard work into making this mod.

I've discovered a bug regarding the Blood Ties quest. I've tested it with and without the mod installed.

    With the mod installed:
When searching for Ian West, when you locate the family: if you decide to go the "shoot everything on sight" route, you will get a prompt saying "you are now hostile with residents of Arefu". This prompt sometimes takes a while to pop, but will always show after faster travel (if not before).

(This does not include killing Ian West, just the family members)

In addition to this, you will also fail the quest Blood Ties, even though your objective is to save Ian West.

(Regardless of whether or not you had any dialogue interactions with the Family members and/or Ian West)

This would make sense after you sorted a peace deal with Vance, through dialogue options. At this point Arefu and the Family are allies.

    • Vance is an exemption to this rule: If you just kill Vance and proceed to talk to Ian West as normal, convince him to go back to Arefu and sneak your way out of the Family (let's say using a stealth boy), you will be able to complete the quest as normal (e.g. fast travelling to Arefu and talking with Evan King). But if you decide to finish the job, even after completing the quest, killing any other members of the family will also result in Arefu becoming hostile.

    • Needs more testing: The guard that's outside and lets you in to visit the family (through the right dialogue options), I only manage once for this bug to trigger by just killing him, I don't know exactly what I did differently, but I can't replicate it (may be best to ignore just for now).

    Without the Mod:
I'm able to go the "shoot everything on sight" route without any issues. And can complete the quest as normal.

    • Unless you do the following: If you kill Vance and/or any other member (but leave at least one alive) or just rescue Ian West without any peace deal (by pickpocketing Vance, hacking or just using black widow on Karl) and go to Evan King to complete the quest. If you go back and kill any other remaining member (even if its just one that's alive): this bug will trigger and Arefu will become hostile.

Please let me know if you need more information or testing.
    I'm happy to help.

    Thanks

Already fixed. Grab the ESM HotFix in the downloads.

      • Fixed Arefu to not go hostile if the player kills The Family (Script mistake my bad)

Thanks mate, sorry I should have checked for any additional files.

Anyways, there's still a scenario to cause this bug.

If you finish the quest without making any peace deal, and not killing every single member of the family. If you come back to kill another member, Arefu will become hostile.

Additionally, I've discovered the same thing happens after you talk with Ian West: If you're rushing on a playthrough (for example), if you kill Vance to get the code for the door, convince Ian to go back to Arefu and then proceed to kill the remaining members, you will get the prompt that Arefu is hostile also.

I don't believe this is directly from your mod. The same issue happens without the mod.

Only way to avoid this is to kill every single member before talking to Ian West.

Regardless, probably not many people will encounter this.

I've installed this patch + most of the highly recommended ones (NVAC, LStewieAL's Tweaks, FO3 BSA Decompressor, Viewmodel Shading Fix, Sunlight Fix, One Tweak but Updated), is there a way to adjust the brightness? If I do that from the in-game slider nothing happens from 0-100% and even if do I change it, after a reboot it resets at 50%. Sometimes I really struggle to see stuff so I'd like to increase it a little bit.

I encountered this too that it wouldn't save my settings. Until I tried hitting the "Back" in the lower right hand corner. Click "Back" twice after making changes, exit game, then launch FO3 to see if that worked.

Yeah, with your method it's able to save the slider position, but I don't think it's doing anything. I tried 0 and 100 and I can't tell the difference.

If none of those mods "lock" the brightness to a set level then it's fine, I guess I'll get used to it.

When I played this game like a decade ago without this mod I stumbled upon a glitch where you can get the boogeyman's hood without having to sell the child at little lamplight. It's on the wiki if you want to know how to do it The Kid-Kidnapper | Fallout Wiki | Fandom. Anyway I was wondering if this mod "fixes" that exploit.
