It's an old ENB, but it definitely still works. There's no .esp and it won't appear in the launcher or mod manager as it's not a mod. It's a preset that will need go into the game's root folder (not /data).
If you installed it into the /data folder like a mod, go to that /data folder and delete any files/folders related to ENB and SweetFX: - delete the SweetFX folder, d3d9.dll, d3d9_SFX.dll, enbbloom.fx, enbeffect.fx, enbeffectprepass.fx, enbpallete.bmp, effect.txt, enbseries.ini, enbsunsprite.fx, enbsunsprite.tga, injector.ini, shader.fx, SMAA.fx, SMAA.h, and any Lone Wanderer ENB related .txt files
go to your game's root folder(where your Fallout3 and FalloutLauncher .exe's are located)
you should see a d3d9.dll file (right-click and just copy-paste it to create a backup)
now, get the latest binaries for FO3/FNV (as of August 2021: v0.451 is what you want)
unzip the file after it downloads and double click the Wrapper Versionfolder
right-click and copy the d3d9.dll file in it
go back to your Fallout3 root folder where the game's .exe is located
paste the d3d9.dll, select yes/okay to overwrite when prompted
download this ENB preset and unzip it somewhere (do NOT unzip it in the /data folder)
open it, and double click the LWE.156.5 folder
select everything in it, and drag and drop it to the Fallout3.exe root folder (or just copy and paste it), yes/okay to overwrite when prompted
now, open the FalloutLauncher.exe and select the "Options" menu
in the drop-down menu for Antialiasing, select "Off" (can do the same for Anisotropic Filtering, and for extra measures, click the "Advanced..." button, select the "Water" tab, and untick the box next to Water Displacement)
save those changes, exit from the launcher
once you boot up the game, you should see in the top left corner that the ENB has loaded and the preset should be working
I was going to browse through the posts looking to see what ENB version I should use since the one specified is no longer available both newer and older ones are but not a 1.61 from what I see but I may just gamble on one with these instructions to go on probably 1.73 if I had to try my luck. Also just realized that one guys link to another ENB page that is probably more up to date.
Working Aug 2020: -you need to install the Lastest enb from Boris from here: http://enbdev.com/mod_falloutnv_v0405.htm -Install all from above into fo3 dir, where data folder is. -then dwnload/copy ALL files from this LoneWanderer enb, into same fo3 dir and overwrite... looks great! but my gpu temp is rising fast.
Overwrite what? "Overwriting" isn't presented as an option.
Also, it doesn't show up in my F3 Launcher Data Files, or in MO2. I downloaded the latest ENB from Boris into my main F3 folder, then did the same for this Mod.
I'm very impressed with this mod. I think I like it. It's the ONLY ENB that does not have the neck bug! THE ONLY ONE! My fraps count is low though, how can I get it higher?
I will endorse this next thing in the morn. It seems by disabling WaitBusyRenderer set to false I got a 20fps boost. Any more reccomendations to increase fps?
EDIT: I just copied everything in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBYbtpo3onI
Glad you like the enb - yes it is heavy, old and needs some love but i haven't a working copy of FO3 right now. When i do i will indeed look into this again-thanks again. ps. ty for the info on FPS fix and video info. awesome work on that.
Great ENB. It works with the newest ENB. Also how do I remove the slight like....marks? on my screen? Theres know the faint faint picture of a skull dudeo and some other stupid stuff
same question on my part... also ... another question, i use steam and i used a search inside of the fallout game folder... there is NO d3d9 dll ANYWHERE. so i have literally no idea what the mod author is even talking about.
why is it mod authors are so utterly inept at making directions for installation of their own work... i work in IT, and this low level of work wouldn't be acceptable anywhere.
I keep getting an "The application was unable to start correctly" ERROR when I try and launch it. I have tried it without the d3d9.dll and used the Injector instead and it launched the game, but nothing. No enb as far as I could tell

The Mod itself doesn't work at all. And that link for a "mountain of info" doesn't even work.
If you installed it into the /data folder like a mod, go to that /data folder and delete any files/folders related to ENB and SweetFX:

This is the new link to "a mountain of info" Midhrastic ENB for Fallout 3
