I actually wish somebody would replace the sound of the mines and mine scripts with something that wouldn't trigger until you stepped on it... then would do this.
1: click- *starts playing "pop goes the weasel" *
2: condition: if player moves, mine explodes for an instant kill
3: if player doesn't move, the song gets faster, and when it ends, the mine immediately blows up, also for an instant kill.
If I was a weapons dealer, I'd make mines like that, what with sound devices being so cheap nowadays that more complex ones are commonly found in greeting cards. save the timer explosion and the song, that's how a mine actually works most of the time.
think of these mines as mines designed specifically for enemy vehicles, meaning that they wouldn't hear the beep in a vehicle, now would they? not to mention that the sound itself is not meant to warn an oncoming soldier, but instead an engineer/user that is waiting nearby to be alerted if there be any approaching vehicles with or without sound, chinese stealth armour users, and the likes of which from a relatively far distance, meaning that the sound heard from the mine is one that is meant to broadcast its sound to the receiver that its user holds, similar to how a microphone works, in order to warn and notify the user/engineer that a vehicle is approaching closeby and/or a convoy is potentially on site and that detonation is imminent due to the small time window that the mine has when near and below a heavy moving vehicle to notify the engineer/user with one fast beep before delivering an explosive payload plus, because of our feather-like weight in comparison to heavy mechanized and armored vehicles, the beep beep boop boop would go off slower due to there being less pressure than as is engineered, being a minimum of 970 lbs, with slightly heavier than average targets, such as stealth armour users, setting it off relatively faster than a regular person would due to the weight of the stealth armour's nature
however, keep in mind that such mines are most likely from the 2030-50s in terms of its technological approach and additional tuning to its regularized functions, such as the beep that is delivered as a frequency and transmitted from the built-in microphone-like mechanical component on towards the user/engineer of the mine's receiver, i.e. a receiver device, one similar to a radio in function but more so to a telecommunication device in principle, be the both very similar in nature, with the purpose of alerting the user/engineer of incoming vehicles in aims of conveying useful intel on enemy positions and the likes of which, especially stealth armour users
do keep in mind that the mines possibly produce a beeping sound when an unidentified aircraft is flying closeby to alert the user/engineer of a nearby enemy approaching aerial vehicle
Hey, I'd like to say, I LOVE your mod... Just a quick question. I noticed the higher in level I got the faster they went off... I was like level 4 when I first got this. I'd here maybe a beep and a half before an explosive... NOW... at level 17, it barely beeps and BOOM! With Big Booms I die even more epically... But is it the game actually doing that or what?

This might be a nuscience when planting mines to use against enemies though.
