If anyone finds transcipts of these old radio shows plz post. my current speakers act wonky with fallout 3 (game sounds good, voices ok but some mod sounds not great) its a bit too quiet for me to catch every word unless I just sit and listen quietly lol.
doubtful? the poor saps that wrote science fiction back in the day sold their rights away and there was no market for short stories so long.
unlike music back catlogues, until digital books existed... obscure books and stories were rarely reprinted... to make money off of a short story copywright someone had to sell it to a magazine again or create an anthology.

I'm working my way through checking the mods in my current load order in FO3Edit for inclusion in the LOOT masterlist, and this mod had four identical-to-master records. This is just a heads-up that you might want to clean your mod with FO3Edit yourself before you release a next version - or perhaps just clean it and upload the cleaned version.
If anyone thinks the audio is too quiet at times, I may have an inconvenient solution. It involves doing a dynamic normalization of all the audio files using audacity and a batch macro which took me about 10 mins to complete on an 8th gen i5.
1.extract all the audio files for the mod into a folder ready to be tampered with. 2. Get Audacity. 3. Download and install Chris's Dynamic Compressor plug-in
instructions for installing are on the site.
4. In Audacity:
Go to Tools > Macros...
Create a New macro with whatever name
In the steps, click Insert, then choose Compress dynamics. Edit the parameters Compress Ratio to 0.77 and click Ok until you return to the macro window.
Insert another step to Export as mp3 and click Ok.
Check the step are:
- Compress dynamics
- Export
- -End-
5. At the bottom of the macro window you should see Apply Macro to:
Click Files and select all the mods audio files you extracted previously.
6. The program should churn out all the new audio files for you in Documents/Audacity/macro-output 7. replace the mods audio files with your new normalized ones, either by overriding files after installation or directly in the mod zip.
Also thank you mod author. This radio station is brilliant. Crazy how well it fits into the game.
Never Give Up! Never Surrender! Heh. Okay. Couldn't let it lie.See long rant below but basically Windows 10. Skipping stuttery radio stations. Madfilter thing fixed (takes some work in Windows 10 have to actually run the Command Prompt as administrator then navigate to folder and run the register.bat, etc...) Anyway other radio stations worked but X-1 would crash the game in a couple of seconds. Creative Alchemy thing fixed that problem but crashed my game at other places cuz i can't put it in Game Mode or something.
Couldn't use the Creative Alchemy thing so went back to the Madfilter fix.Other radio stations working. Game not crashing cept for when try to play X-1 Radio. Okay roll up the sleeves.
Didn't seem to make sense the other radio station mods would work but this wouldn't.I looked at the MP3's from this radio station and compared them to my GNR expanded and Point Radio station.
2 things I noticed that were different. These MP3's were all mono (their MP3's seemed to be stereo). The other was X-1 MP3's have a very low bit rate (kbps).
I converted the mono MP3's to stereo (had to do it by hand copying and pasting the audio track and creating a new MP3.) Took an hour grrr.... Replaced the mono ones in the Data folder with my new stereo ones and started the game up. NO luck still crashed after a couple of seconds.
FINE! Try again. Got rid of those stupid converted stereo MP3's and started over.
I used Any Audio Converter and did a batch conversion of the original mono 32kbps MP3's to make new 96 kbps mono MP3's. This tripled the size of the MP3's (287MB to 862MB) Then I replaced the MP3's in the Data folder with the 96 kbps ones and tried again.
BAM!!!! X-1 Tales of Wonder radio station now works perfectly again!
So for whatever reason some combo of Windows 10, Madfilter, codecs, Fallout 3, or whatever didn't seem to like the 32 kbps MP3's. That or something else was changed when I converted them.
If you want to give it a try. 1. Install Any Audio Converter (make sure when you install you uncheck the extra stuff it wants to install 2. Extract the MP3's into some folder. 3. Start up Any Audio Converter 4. Click Add or Drag files. Navigate to where you extracted them. 5. Use the Shift Select to select all the MP3's and click Open. 4. In the Upper right hand area Select Output Profile and choose MP3 Audio. 5. In the big window listing all your MP3's select all. 6. In the Lower right corner click Audio Options, change Audio Bitrate to 96 7. In Upper Right corner click Convert Now. Wait awhile until done. 8. In lower right corner click Basic Setting. Note the Output Folder. That is where the new MP3's are. 9. Overlay the X-1 MP3's in the Data folder (Fallout 3\Data\Sound\Songs\X-1_Tales_of_Wonder!) with your shiny new 96 kbps ones.
Start the game Tune to X-1 and cross your fingers.
You went through all that trouble for nothing. All you had to do was convert the file to MP3 and it will work. That's what I did. I didn't change the bitrate or anything like that. Even though these are MP3 files, I assume something gets lost in translation. You just have to get any software that can convert audio to MP3 files and it will function.
Haven't been on here for a while. I'm glad that worked for you but I did a simple convert first and that didn't work. Though I did convert from mono to stereo in that step. My last convert I changed the bitrate instead and that worked. But it does make me wonder. With all the different audio drivers out there it may be it worked for you but won't for me.
I bring it up because I'm giving TTW a try now and X1 crashed pretty fast and I don't have my original converted MP3's. So TheSphinx01 I'm going to give a "translate but don't change bitrate" a shot. Here's hoping.
Wow. I can't believe I'm still playing this game in 2019. Will I ever finish? You were right though, racal. The way to get it to work is to simply change the bitrate. 32kbps second is just to low. Raise it to the next highest level and it will work. At 96kbps it will definitely work. If you can, boost the audio. It may sound a little low. I don't know if it'll work in stereo but you can give it a try.
Well for me, it was a matter of having another sound device which conflicted with the actual mod itself. I Simply went to devices in the windows start menu and disabled SRS audio sounds(it could be another sound program for you guys, dunno what u use). afterwards what i did was go to control panel to sound devices and set my default speakers, (the one your pc came with) and it worked like a charm. It was a simple fix, you all probably have different sound devices running at the same time. maybe this will help.
I LOVE this mod, it is one of the reasons I still play the game. I sit and listen to this radio station quite often. Have you done this for Fallout New Vegas as well yet?
Oh and do you think you might be able to link me to a place to download these episodes?
Don't get me wrong. I love NV as well, just not as much as F3. I think I put in 400 hours on NV, but way more than that in this game. ATM, I'm trying to hold myself over with Skyrim, but at this time, I'm not overly hopeful of a 2014 F4 launch.
The files can be downloaded here in 3 zips: http://archive.org/details/OTRR_Certified_X_Minus_One They are not all clear, the clearest of which I included in my station. Now of course I did not listen to every episode from end to end. I zipped around, but I was extensive with my zipping
