If you are trying to play fallout through the GOTY edition through GOG this will make the game crash on launch. You need to Launch the game from the program files(86x) folder Fallout.exe . This bypasses the the box with play options etc and launches the game directly.
Whether you have the Steam version or the GOG version neither one should ever be installed in the program files folder. Windows, through User account control does not allow programs to write to the these folders at runtime and will reverse any changes made. This is why all programs write to the hidden user data folder instead. Install to the root C: to avoid problems with modding.
personally i think the name for this should change. i use an AMD cpu and this program worked for me. this works for AMD as well as Intel. at first i wasn't downloading it because i had an AMD cpu so i figured it wouldn't fix anything. figured, what the heck, i should try it and see if it fixes my problem, and it worked.
Dude, this saved my game, thanks! All I had to do was just add iNumHWThreads=2 as a new line below the existing bUseThreadedAI=1 line in the default config file for New Vegas and it stopped the crashes!

bUseThreadedAI=1
iNumHWThreads=2
(My assumption is that AMD fixed the crashing in New Vegas and Oblivion but not Fallout 3 with its latest drivers)
