When installing a window should appear (at least in recent MO2 installations) showing the various folders found in this mod. Expand the folder for the map you you want to install and you will see a sub folder "data" underneath it, right click that sub folder and then click "set as <data> directory" -- this will install whichever map you wanted to use.
This mod singlehandedly killed my installation of Fallout 3. I was very careful in ensuring that this mod was the only variable I changed in my installation and immediately after downloading it, I get instant CTD's on opening the Pip Boy, if my game can even load without a CTD. I have deactivated and reactivated it, uninstalled and reinstalled, tracked down all of its files and deleted them, reinstalled all of my UI mods multiple times, and still cannot resolve the CTD's. I am at a loss as to what could possibly be going wrong but I know this mod appears to be what started it. I never experienced any of these issues not 5 minutes before implementing it and the instant it took effect my installation was fucked.
Is this a joke or something? Dropping "the map of your choice into the fallout directory" doesn't do squat. can't you people give better instructions for your mods??? I'm so sick of wasting time on crap that doesn't work as described. There doesn't seem to be a better map anywhere that actually works.
Though you haven't been seen for almost four years, I still wanted to say that I agree with the content of your rant but not with the way you address the matter. People who play Bethesda games and people who mod them are used to adding mods to their games in whatever way you can.
If you don't know how or what then there's a truckload of tutorials that will explain things to the 'T'. So, while it is correct that a lot of modders give inaccurate descriptions, you yourself might get a touch educated, both on how to use mods and on how to broach the subjects that inconvenienced you.
I had the same lag issue that others have mentioned, I dropped this size down to 2048 and it works great now. I find it odd that it causes a slowdown though, I think it's something in the game's engine. My dragon textures for Skyrim are 8192 and I can play games like Far Cry 4 on Ultra so I really think it's something to do with the way Fallout "Sees" this image. My Computer is a 3.3GHz Quad with 16GB of RAM and a 4GB Radeon R9 200x btw.
the handdrawn with overlay is excellent, and I downsized it to 2048x2048 as it was still readable and it is working fine too! I used Gimp and exported with DXT3 compression mode btw that was the original file mode. And I also inverted the colors so the "paper" is now black, and it still looks very cool!
Indeed. That's because the new images are 4 times larger. Not a big problem to resize it though.I think that only the hand drawn would need to be 2 maybe 3 times the size to be able to read the texts better.
For some reason, I can't get this to work Could someone please tell me the exact process for using this mod? Cuz I've tried multiple methods, with no results :/
lol for the sake of helping ppl out _ theres nothing wrong with the file structure, long as you have archive invalidation working, the only thing itd be is installing to the the wrong place, like you placed the data folder in the data folder
btw the Real Map chinagreenelvis used isnt exactly what mine was, hes added a blur effect to it, mine was sharper, mabye too sharp for the quality it was, though havent compared his one ingame; Anyway i updated that mod with a better version losing the fluro color and used a better texture. check my fo3 profile if interested, and its a fomod install

Oh and make sure that your archive invalidation is working.
