Well I'd be cautious of editing the heightmaps too extensively. Rendering the LOD for new stuff can be a bit... time consuming... to say the least. Bethsoft rendered theirs on a render farm, and on a basic modder's computer it will take many hundreds of hours to complete.
Point Lookout has a great extended ocean border, tho. If you're going to put it anywhere, put it in that Worldspace (and the LOD is much quicker to render there)
I have not given up on this file! Just keep checking back. I'm still working on it, its just i have a lot to do before the holidays... as a comment to jeoshua, im thinking of doing something a bit beachy, maybe like an island. But i need to find palm trees and the right landscape mesh.
Yes. Please do continue expanding into that sector. It's really underused (for decent enough reason I suppose... gameworld has to end somewhere), but it would be really nice to see more stuff out there now that the borders can be pushed back.
