I have been using LOOT with Skyrim and my new reinstall of FO3, wondering then why I should now go back to BOSS, which did not appear to have much to offer to me over the past number of years; I mean to say that it did not appear to be keeping up with the modding communities, did not appear to be responsive to load ordering, and similar faults. I mean no disrespect but LOOT does appear to be quite able, dependable and helpful compared to my past experiences with BOSS. Help me to understand where I may be lacking in insight.
Because I had a request to implement a feature by someone who still uses BOSS (especially for Oblivion). Also, there are more than 100 downloads of the BOSS Userlist Manager per day (across all games), so there are still sufficient BOSS users to warrant my continued support.
I get "invalid boss masterlist detected for Fallout 3"--all the time when i try to use this app (latest version). My Masterfile is the latest, Boss recognize it and use it, Im told to delete it and let Boss recreate it. The problem is that I dont have my gamingrig connected to Internet, so I have to download the masterlist manually and put in the Boss folder myself (done that for Oblivion and Skyrim before without any issue). Why does this app detect my working masterlist as invalid and what can I do about it?
This message is a result of not detecting valid entries in the Masterlist. I have just run BOSS via BUM and the Fallout 3 Masterlist works fine for me.
Things to check...
1. Are you running the latest version of BOSS (v2.3)? 2. Are you saving the file as utf8 encoded (open with Notepad++ to check)? 3. Are you saving your downloaded Masterlist in the same folder you specified in BUM's settings?
Thx for the quick respone! 1) Yep, the latest! 2) Checked it and yes! 3) Yes!
Is there some other folder/folders I need to put this in to get it to work (some hidden ones)?
I have never had any of my gaming-rigs connected to Internet so I always had to manually download masterlists and put them in the right folders. Never had any problems. THe same goes for Loot, but I dont like the load-order it suggests in Fallout 3.
Are you sure you are running BUM v6.7.2 - the latest version of BOSS changed the Masterlist format, so you do need the latest version of BUM - please let me know what version of BUM you are running.
You can try deleting the settings file to force re-entry of the information...
1. Close BUM 2. Delete the BUM settings folder in C:\Users\Your_User_Name\AppData\Local\Surazal\ (will have to show hidden files) 3. Start BUM and re-enter all the Settings information (do NOT import old settings) 4. Close BUM and the restart it.

According to the original author of BOSS, who is also the author of LOOT, LOOT replaces BOSS and BOSS is only recommended for Oblivion.

Also have you viewed the Masterlist.txt file on your gaming rig to make sure it contains valid entries (there should be 5,742 lines)?
Also tried re-installing both Boss and BUM?!
(+ re-downloaded masterlist)
