About this mod
Turns the Roach King into a very formidable foe with loot that allows you to summon and befriend roaches.

With this mod installed, the Roach King is decked out in metal armor, has 1200 HP, frag grenades, a minigun, and can summon a variety of radroaches depending on how much HP he has left. If one is feeling overwhelmed by the roaches, they should hurry up and kill the Roach King. Summoned roaches will follow him to the grave.
One's reward for defeating the Roach King is a book that can make the player friend to all radroaches, an item that summons radroaches when equipped, and more. Granted, those are the two most fancy items, but still.
Just remember: this Roach King is STRONG. The primary save file I used for playtesting was saved right before two deathclaws tried to take him out. Not only would the Roach King always win, he'd rarely have much damage to show for it. Unless I was blasting him with missiles all the while, of course.
ADDENDUM: Playtested further by summoning three Super Mutant Behemoths to try and take him out. The Roach King won with about half his HP left.
== INSTALL ==
Unzip the folder and put RoachKingBoss.esp into your Fallout 3 Data folder
Using FOMM or the FO3 Launcher, check RoachKingBoss.esp
To uninstall, uncheck and delete RoachKingBoss.esp
== KNOWN BUGS ==
There can be brief moments of significant slowdown when taking hits from the minigun while new roaches are appearing. These moments were brief and not too common when I was playing, but they were to be expected.
I once saw the Roach King stand in place and stop doing anything while holding a frag grenade. I'm not sure what triggered it.

This is my first time uploading anything to this site, so if there's anything that needs fixing or improving, please don't hesitate to let me know.
No perks are used in this mod. While reading the book the Roach King drops acts like gaining the Animal Friend perk with a radroach twist, it is accomplished without using a perk.
All models and icons used in this mod are from the original Fallout 3. My directory structure should match the BSA, but if I screwed up somewhere, please let me know.
The summoned roaches are created using the placeatme function, but they clean up after themselves to prevent save file bloat. In theory, the most summoned roaches on screen at a time should be 9. They are disabled and marked for deletion upon death, and only survive 30-120 seconds (depending on the roach) before automatically being dealt 6000 damage. Overkill, yes, but it gets the job done, darn it!
If for whatever reason they don't die that way, they'll be disabled and marked for deletion when the cell resets after 72 hours. I have no idea how they'd survive to see that, but the fail safe is there.
In addition to preventing file size bloat, the auto-death of roaches is included to ensure that a swarm of sidetracked weak roaches don't prevent the Roach King from summoning the stronger roaches later on.
