I know I'm 3 years late to this party, but I'm back into FO3 before 4 gets here, and thought I'd experiment with mods.

I saw someone mention that these can't be repaired. What is a Sephiroth to do with a broken sword? You mentioned that you play with weapon damage off, yet despite my Google Fu, I can't find a way to do this (I did find the console command to repair an item, but doing it every few hours would get tedious, I imagine).

I hope you're still around to read this. Thanks for this awesome mod! I can't wait to use it!

I see your point in that. Oh, I do confirm that it is accurate when used in VATS and not accurate when used outside of VATS.

Yeah, it was intentionally made magical in the NV version. The rationale was that in Fallout an NV, all projectiles disappear after one use, while IRL these things are pretty resilient and can be picked up and used again and again and again. So I made it weigh a whole pound, which really is enough for anywhere between half a dozen and a dozen real shurikens, but it has infinite ammo. It's the best approximation I could come with for hauling a dozen shurikens and picking them up and reusing them after you kill someone.

You are correct that the pulling the pin animation looks very strange on something that has no pin. The other thing I noticed, is that you have to make sure the targeting cursor is to the left of the target, or, the shuriken (or should it be Shaken?) will go to the right of the target. This is not in VATS, as I haven't tested it that.

New Vegas came out after FO3, so maybe Bethesda saw the wisdom of having thrown weapons, other than grenades.

I call this the 'magical shuriken', as you only need one in your inventory. Throw it, and another appears in your hand ready to throw.

Hmm, seriously weird, considering that it's ported from FO:NV where it's a thrown weapon. But yeah, now that you mention it, it does seem to be set as an unarmed weapon.

I guess I must have mis-clicked something at some point after testing and removing it. I didn't pay that much attention, TBH. It was only left in as a mesh resource for people like you who can use the GECK, anyway.

My primary interest is in modding. I caught that bug back in the days of Baldur's Gate. I like to check stuff out. Since I do have the G.E.C.K., it is easy enough to do. when you add the shuriken, equip it, and ready it, it show it floating above the back of the right hand. Left click on a target and nothing happens. I will have to bring it up in the geck and take a hard look.

Edit: you had the animation type set to hand to hand melee. I guess that is what made it non-functional.

Hmm? I had removed the shuriken from the crate in the Fallout 3 version. In fact, I just checked, and it's not in the crate. Nor is it mentioned anywhere in the readme or file description, nor is it in any of the screenshots I put here.

I'd say that if you went the extra mile to give yourself an item that wasn't supposed to be there in the FO3 version, and it turned out to be non-functional... well, you should have kinda expected it. Also now you know why I cut it out :p

I mean, don't get me wrong, the curiosity and exploration spirit are commendable, but it should have been obvious that if some stuff is cut out, it might actually not be working. If it did, I would have included it in the items that the the players can get :p

Well, you CAN use the shuriken as a thrown weapon, by just setting it to thrown. In fact, I could have sworn it was already set like that. It works basically like a grenade that doesn't explode. The only real downside is that, unlike New Vegas, in Fallout 3 ALL throwing animations are for grenades, so you get to watch your character pull an invisible pin off the shuriken before throwing it. Which I thought looked really stupid. Which is actually the real reason I removed it from the crate.

But if that doesn't bother you, it CAN be a very usable thrown weapon.

Very nice, except that the Shuriken is a useless item. All you can do, is guard with it in the ready state. It is a thrown weapon after all. The only such in your plugin. Why didn't you do the appropriate things to make it so?

I am still going to endorse this, in spite of the problem stated above.
