I always thought throwing away books after reading them in this environment was crazy-stupid. And having to break immersion waiting to take the comprehension perk before reading the books just left a bad taste in my mouth. This mod allows me to act like a normal human in that environment would! I can 'read' my scavenged books to my heart's content and not feel bad for losing a valid advantage for immersion's sake. Roleplay and lore friendly! Love it.
Love this mod. Not only does it make more sense for the book to remain in your inventory after you've read it, you no longer have to wait to get the comprehension perk before you start reading books.
Sorry for the late response and apologies that I can't give you a definite answer to the FWE question, I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that mod so can't say for sure whether there are any conflicts.
All I can tell you is that my mod doesn't replace the original skill book objects so before you read them they should behave exactly as normal Fallout 3 books and any mod that acts on standard FO3 books should work OK. However once you've read a book it becomes a "well-thumbed" or "annotated" book which are both new objects and most likely won't be recognised as books by any other book mod. Still, depending on what FWE actually does with books this may not be a problem as by default books are removed from the game on being read anyway.
Hopefully I'll have time to check out FWE at the weekend so I can give a more definitive answer.
Thank you very much for the endorsement by the way, this is the first mod I've attempted and it's great to think that someone else might get some use out of it.
Thanks! A few others have had the same idea about leaving books in your inventory after you've read them - Persistent Skill Books and Consistent Books both do this, as I think does Arwen's Hardcore mod and probably a few others.
What I couldn't find was a mod to save up the extra potential Comprehension points until you've actually got the perk to use them. Being able to re-read to glean more information from a book feels right to me, I think it fits nicely with the concept of the Comprehension perk. I was thinking about requiring a pencil for annotating a book to earn the extra point, but that may be a step too far!
Anyway thanks for the feedback and hope you enjoy the mod if you get a chance to try it out.
