Hi, Hello, Thank you for the mod! can you please take a look in F3Edit with Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch? i see conflicts in 3 areas. and i have no idea which ones to keep, if you incorporated their fixes
I have been avoiding comments in my mods because the usual comment are selfish mod users who just want me to make the mod the way that person wants it.
But since I am recently unemployed, I have a bit of time to look at this stuff again.
Since I am 58, age discrimination is a thing to consider. I have been a mainframe programmer for decades and recently a project lead. Living off stocks at the moment since unemployment in Missouri is laughable. Idaho had better payments.
My god that's a lot of years of experience, wish I had that now. I'm still in university. I can't understand age discrimination, especially in tech. With that many years you ought to be extremely valued.
The coin pushers are more worried about profits than they are experienced coders. That is why so many jobs have gone to India. My last job I was a project lead that coordinated the India programming staff. Personally, I would tell everyone to not go into programming if you are in a first world country. The pay is dismal and the stress is high compared to other professions.
" age discrimination is a thing to consider." Same here in Germany, you're not the only one
But many thanks for the update. I'm reworking my mod collection for 4 years now an I'm happy that there are still people out there maintaining tis great game.
I am currently updating my favorite FO3 mod called "Nightmare Realm". It is one of my mods I am most proud of, and with the update that is coming today it will be even be better.
As a fellow old-ish timer who's experienced age-discrimination, I hear you! And as a PhD I've also experienced being "over-qualified." LOL. Anyways, I for one think it's fantastic that a modder is returning to a mod 12yrs later to update it! And thanks for sharing.
Just want to let any future users know that this mods allows the Little Lamplight back gate to open any time, when it should only ever open during a main quest. Basically I just accidentally skipped a huge amount of main story missions.
Thanks. Sadly that's a deal breaker for me as well, I hope the author updates it.
EDIT: It seems that deleting the Back Gate script on the ESP using FO3Edit is enough to remove the automatic functionality and as far as I can see it won't mess up the quest or anything. So there you go :)
While that is a great tip, it takes away from this mod. I think a better method would be checking if the quest is enabled and whether the stage of the quest where the gate should be opened has been activated.
Maybe some kind soul will make this into or mod fix one day.
Until then you could try to fix it yourself.
The tool you need is xEdit. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/637?tab=description
-Install the Auto Gates mod -Open FO3Edit, click OK for the plugins checkingprompt, wait for it to load everything. -Click on the + ("plus") sign on the AutoGates.esp section, it will show the subsections inside of it. -Click on the + sign on the "Script" subsection. -Right-click the "00066CBE LamplightBackGateSCRIPT" line and click on "Remove", confirm. -Close FO3Edit, click OK on the plugin backup window.
Exactly. I played FO3 on the console and on the PC. If anyone would've told me that Paradise Falls had a gate, I would've assumed that they didn't actually play the game lol.
Even though it is late and likely there are people that still do not realize this but you can also close the gate without this mod. The switch is near the gate.
Hello, I have a problem, after putting the mod, at the megaton doors sometimes when I approach the doors the textures fail, the doors open, but there are textures flashing in some moments, there is some way to solve it, I have tried to run it without other mods and remains the same, by removing the mod from the doors the problem is solved, but logically I do not solve the problem that is just what I want.
I'm pretty sure this mod glitch kills both the player and npc charaters as well. Three times now, the guy up in the tower at megaton has been found dead. I'm using Upgraded Caravans and leave my essential set follower outside megaton, so there's no way he's gonna' get killed with all the fire power around. Plus there are never any dead enemy around at all. On top of that, he's got a energy weapon, compliments of EVE. I believe the gate going up and down can kill him.
I also got killed myself when at Rivet City waiting for the bridge to come over to me. I just dropped dead and fell through the floor to the ground below. That's 100% verifiable. I was there.
It's a nice mod, but not that needed. Plus it's rather annoying at Megaton, when dealing with trade caravans. The stupid gate keeps going up and down... making a ton of noise. So annoying.

When hear about all the crunch hours, poor pay, no respect, and the constant dumming down/insults of your profession, dreams get burned.

Also which armor is that in the screenshots?

The only real issue I see is when your bring your dad back to Rivet city, he has trouble until the bridge extends. Then I can coax him across.
