also i recon the bloody mess chunky gore effect should only happen from explosives, shotguns and big guns. if you could do that, that would be amazing, cheers
I quite like the idea of this, but without a version that also reduces the dismemberment rate even when the Bloody Mess perk is taken, I can't really benefit from it. It doesn't need to reduce the dismemberment/limb explosion rate to as low as the normal for the mod, just perhaps 1.5 to 2 times as likely as the mod's default (30% to 40% dismemberment and 40% to 60% explosion perhaps?).
There seems to be a bug with the mole rat quest for the Wilderness Survival Guide. The effect of the repellent stick doesn't work, such that they smoke but never explode. Since you only get credit if they die from the effect, I had to disable this mod to get past that quest.
Having made this mod a standard add-on to all my Fallout 3 games, I have to say its rather rewarding. The fact that my opponents do not explode and de-limb regularly makes the few times they DO explode and de-limb much more rewarding and satisfying. Makes running up to a raider with a shotgun and VATS-hitting him in the head for an explosive display all the more entertaining!
I can understand the criticisms, as its obvious that damage mods will throw off the calculations of when to de-limb an opponent, and how, later in the game, it really doesn't matter how lightly you hit (for you will still do tremendous amounts of damage).
I'm eager to see version 2 of this, possibly as part of a larger mod project. Keep this alive!

could it be because of the damage mod i have?
it sucks that i have to choose between realistic weapons and realistic dismemberment.
