I was wondering why the hell an elite place like tenpenny tower has liquor cabinets like this. it was ridiculous when Shakes offered me to drink - and there was this broken closet nearby. Thank you for fixing this.
You can get a UV template from Nifskope. Just open it and right click on one of the parent data tabs (in Block Details) called "NiTriStrips" and then hover over "Texture" and there should be an "Export Template" option. Scale it to what dimentions you want and save it. It saves it as a TGA file.
Might be worth opening a nif and hovering over the data blocks and reading what they do. You will pick it up eventually.
I use Maya quite a bit and it's not best for and has no real Nif plugins like Blender and 3DS Max does. If you want to do a model and add collision you are going to have to export a FBX or whatever into 3DS Max or Blender and learn how to add collision or animations in them programs.
Whilst new to modding, and the geck/nifscope, 3d isnt new to me, as I do alot of work in maya/photoshop and after effects.. leads me to a question tho.. I would like to know, Do I unwrap the uvs in maya and texture a model from there, or can nifskope unwrap uvs etc as well..
Thanks for the advice, am very new to modding since opening the geck for the first time about 3 weeks back..
Didnt know if I needed the nif file or not, but now thinking about it, no I didnt, So re texturing is even newer to me .. Hope you liked the texture.. it brassed me off there wasnt a single newish wood cabinet in the game..
Hey there =) This is a very nice retexture you've made. Just want to point out that the nif file isn't actually necessary =) The texture is the only thing needed =)
I shall return to endorse this anyway because it looks quite nice =)

I think it can but only basic, simple meshes.
You'd be best to stick with maya, if you have a way of doing it that works, usually it's best to stick with it =)

Whoever it was needs to go back to school.
EDIT: Thanks to whoever thumbed up the comments, my unsung heroes! =)
For anyone curious as to why I wrote what I did, it was because someone thumbed down my comment and was curious as to why they did it =O
