If you need to fit the hardware into lore, use the Commonwealth as a workaround. If they can build synthetic humans, surely they must've come up with superior technology that puts vacuum tubes to shame. Or maybe a Terminator came from the past -the future is NOW- trying to kill dad, so Project Purity would never happen. After it was defeated, its components spawned new technology -and several bad sequels. I'm quite sure, someone could make a quest, where the Lone Wanderer would try to find out where this strange technology came from. Tie it in with Mothership Zeta -if E.T. wants to phone home, he's gonna need something more advanced. There's tons of mods out there, that in some way conflict with lore. I think it's a great concept and a wonderrful addition to FO3. Downloading now, endorsing when I'm allowed to.
EDIT: I installed the "Hard Drives Floppy Disks and Motherboards" version of the mod. Some things I ran across: -not all pipboy icons show up for the Hard Drives (Pipboy OS 26 Error). I checked the ESP in the GECK and it was unable to locate some PipboyImages. - Did you intend to have the script attached to the Motherboard?
EDIT 2: you might want to balance the weight of all new items. A 3.5" floppy disk will probably not weigh the same as a 2.5 TB hard drive.
Thumbs up for the idea, killing robots in vanilla is not a worthwhile cause.. Adding new stuff like this makes a nice touch. Sadly I agree with many others, the contrast to Fallout universe is too much, such hard drives should not exist. Maybe remodify them to be reels, motherboards to simple and large "old ISA-card like" boards and such. Give it a Fallout realistic customization and it's an excellent mod.
This mod would be wonderful addtion to the new robo shop im building, so im asking for permission to use it in my build. Also this is a graet mods noone, has touched on this issue of robo mod such as this as far as i can find. it would be a great addition to wmk mods thanks for the awsome mod and all the hard work.
