If you don't want their names to be changed (from Garden Gnome to Santa Gnome or Leprechaun) just don't install the esp. They're primarily texture replacers, the esps came later after the GECK was released so they can still be used without it.
On the download page the first file is just the textures. The esp was uploaded later and is separate (2nd file).
could you make this into a separate item so i can still keep the old gnomes since i got some mods for the gnomes and i like collecting them this santa gnomes nice
i for got to mention if you could also make a separate file for the leprechaun it also is very nice and looking forward to put in my gnome collection
That was what made me think of doing them "> I was going to wait for the GECK so I could do an esp and have the names all changed, like what was done with my Leprechauns, but we may get it after Xmas and this mod would seem out of place, then.

Today I uploaded an esp, it's optional, really. It just makes all the Garden Gnomes be named Santa Gnomes.
