upon looking at the FO3 Wiki Reaver stats are this:
5 ST, 7 PE, 10 EN, 5 CH, 5 IN, 7 AG, 5 LK Lvl: 12 HP:1,100 XP:50 (which is sorta messed up) Combat Skill:100 ATK DMG:100 Special Attack: Radioactive Gore (which is deadly accurate and can do 100 DMG)
most players say use the Dart Gun to cripple their legs then go to town on em with caution. I do admit they are fast and tough as F, but if players want to use the mod to nerf these guys go ahead, to others use the Dart Gun and use a strong,OP, or modded gun and those guys will drop like bloatflies lol
I never said I couldn't deal with it, why do people feel the need to come and explain how good they are at any computer game.
Don't like the idea of this mod? Don't download it and move on.
What I would say is that the first 3 times I went through Fallout 3 I had no mods installed at all. So I got through the tunnels with my normal vanilla version armor, no increased strength combat armor and only Fawkes following me. The times I died was when 3 reavers totally ignored all the bots and the followers and all attacked me, 3 hits from a Reaver and you die, when there are three of them what chance do you have?
With the Super Mutants there is a reasonable and explainable increase in their ability and strength, it makes sense. Normal Mutant all the way to the Bohemoth is a gradual sensible increase. From the Glowing One to the Reaver the increase is totally out of proportion.
But as I say, if you don't agree with the mod don't download it. No one is forcing you
I got through the Prez Metro at level 20 as a small guns/energy weapons female character wearing modded combat armour equivalent (30 DR). I had Charon with the terrible shottie and Enclave PA.
I was also using MMM which has Glowing Ones explode when killed; an AoE knockdown effect.
My tactics were simple: I shot all reavers and glowing ones with the dartgun, via VATS and Jet, to slow them down and concentrated on the reavers with a tri-beam. The sentry bots really come into their own if they're allowed to actually fire their big guns ....
I didn't die, but Charon did on my first attempt. And you died when you had 3 setessential followers? WTF?
My original character on my 1st playthrough, a big guns dude wearing power armour, had no trouble at all.
My advice to you is to develop your tactics with regard to Reavers, rather than artificially nerfing something you can't deal with. Download MMM, enable the Zones Respawn plugin and keep exiting and re-entering the Red Racer factory. You'll have Reavers down in no time. If you don't mind using big guns, I found that Flamers work very well. Auto-Axes as well, if you're Melee Weapons is high.
I don't know the .... background rationale ... as to why Reavers are so strong, but that's beside the point really. After all, the swampfolk get damage bonuses and they're only inbred hicks. It has to do with presenting high-level players with a challenge. E.g. my first trip through Old Olney encountering Deathclaw Matriarchs made me spit in fury at the monitor ....
But, you adapt and overcome. Story of life ...
No game is fun if you eliminate the challenge. However subjective that "challenge" may be.
Feedback would be good, I've been through the Presidential Tunnels and still found them a challenge but would be good to hear if people think I've made them too easy.
Good point but alot of people won't want to do what it takes to get the Ghoul Mask. Also you come across Reavers in other places, maybe you won't have the mask with you

Note that the dart gun can see you through an encounter with as many reavers as you please.
Note also that I use no Str increasing armour.
