Why did you move the file off this site completely to yours? Honestly, it takes longer to download from your website than it did here. I tested it by downloading from both here and your website a few weeks back. Nexus was about two minutes faster. I don't have premium and never have. I honestly have never had issues with download speed here on Nexus. I know Nexus says they cap it, but umm... the majority of mods I have downloaded over the past five years have been instant or extremely fast on bigger mods. I don't know how much you've actually used Nexus and/or if you've even download many mods of this website, but the download really isn't slow like you state it to be. For the amount of time I have been here I have not once come across someone who complained about download speed on this website, nor have any of the thousands of mod authors over in the Skyrim section have ever had a problem either.
Please re-upload your file back here on Nexus. I prefer to keep my mods downloads to a place I've always trusted and never had a problem with, rather than be sent to some random mod authors website.
It's not about the download speed mainly, but overall I do have more control over the content, it's easier for me to update and maintain everything. The website and these mods are things I personally made for myself, at the end of the day I didn't have to share any of this knowledge, I could've kept it all for myself.
The modding resources are going to be complemented by the modding documentation I'm writing for Evil Genius. That's the whole idea. http://ratchet302.gitlab.io/games/e/evil-genius/modding/index.html
I also like to add other tiny mods I wasn't able to add on Nexus Mods. I don't need to take screenshots of all of these, the titles alone are pretty self explanatory, but either way I'm really picky about the photos I take, and it would be a bit of a waste of time to take screenshots of each mod I make. http://ratchet302.gitlab.io/games/e/evil-genius/tweaking/index.html#game-tweaking
My website allowed me to grow as a person, I've learned plenty of new things, and I hope people can understand that. Moving away from Nexus mods and from other modding websites is my own way of self growth. I have far more control, it's extremely easy to maintain, and if I ever feel like improving on any of my old work I can simply do that.
I don't mind if people don't want to use the website, but I want you to understand that at the end of the day, I didn't have to do any of this. I created this content, and I feel like I should be able to decide such things by myself.
If Nexus mods ever goes down, at least I know that all my stuff can be safely backed up.
I'm also talking about other websites. Honestly all my documentation and all the content could be backed up in so many places very easily. At the end of the day Evil Genius isn't the only thing I worked on, there are other games I wish to add tiny bits of documentation for, and other tiny mods.
If it wasn't for the website I would've probably given up on this whole modding thing. Hell, there's no way I would've learned to do this on my own. http://ratchet302.gitlab.io/games/l/life-is-strange-before-the-storm/tweaking/index.html
I know this seems unfair, but I'm sorry, this is just what I chose to do. If you think I'm being selfish that's okay.
At the end of the day it's my choice, sorry. I don't like to disappoint people, and I understand your point, but too many people have taken advantage of my own work, claimed it as their own, and so on. I want one place with all the things I improved, made from scratch and other things I worked on.
On my website I'm using this license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/
If anything, all the content on my website has far less restrictions than on Nexus Mods itself.
Either way I don't think I'm doing something ridiculous. I'm really passionate about all the things I worked on, I really care a lot, and I want to do everything properly. I'm not sure what else to tell you, I'm not trying to bulls*** you or anything. Like I have my own reasons but this is pretty difficult to explain as a whole, the words mostly escape me at the moment.
I just want to do something more with my life you know. I can't serve Nexus Mods forever. I want change, so I'll be that change.
If people want to contact me they can always hit me up with a comment. https://steamcommunity.com/id/ratchet302/
Anyway I just added a link to the website seeing as the links are always the same, meaning that you always get all the up to date stuff.
On Nexus Mods I would need to update the files manually all the time through the UI, it's really annoying. It's so slow too.
No more finicky Nexus Mods UI just to update one mod. Instead of wasting minutes with the UI and with the Nexus Mods being slow I can just update the files on my website and be done with it. I'm just more productive overall, I get to iterate far more often over my work, and I just get to improve everything however many times I want.
There are many other reasons I honestly forgot, I'm just writing everything that comes to my mind right now, but I don't feel like I'm doing anything unreasonable, I'm sorry if you don't like what I'm doing, but I'm not sure what else to tell you.
I don't really care too much either way. "I've got s*** to dooo". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0adVjYVjSXg
If you think I'm just being selfish, t'hat's okay. I would rather be selfish and care more about my well being, but at least I know that I'm doing everything I can, so that I can do my best. Either way, I didn't have to spend all my time on these things, and I don't think I'm being too unreasonable.
I get you and I understand where you are coming from, I'm sorry for disappointing you but, I won't live forever either way.
Honestly everything I'm making is pointless anyway, one day I'm going to be dead of old age, or just dead from some random disease. I honestly should just give up and stop trying to do anything.... what's the point anyway.
I'm not even sure why I bother trying so hard, it all feels so pointless. I feel pretty worthless right now. Whatever, I'll just keep thinking about it.
Well, after reading "I didn't have to share any of this knowledge, I could've kept it all for myself." I stopped reading right there. I get it. You're one of "those" kind of authors. Which means, I don't even want to bother with you anymore. I mean, I kind of scanned over the rest of the novel you wrote. You obviously over think way too much and took what I said the wrong way. So, no. You don't get nor understood me. I wasn't trying to say anything negative or mean nor was I upset or anything of the sort.
If you hate Nexus so much, why do you leave your mods here? You should delete them off Nexus. Ooh, well I guess you won't since you're using Nexus to advertise and send some traffic to your website. Looks like you're not quite doing it on your own yet.
I don't care to bother with this anymore. It was a simple asking to upload your files back here. A concise "no" would have been more effective.
Good luck with your website. Hopefully you already have a few people that follow your work. Best of luck on everything.
I don't want to be paid though, I'm gladly doing this for free, but my living conditions aren't the greatest, I sleep in the cold half the time. This week alone has been horrible, the temperatures dropped by a ton. I only eat pasta every day, and I don't want anyone to experience that.
I could've just given up on the game, nobody asked me to do any of these things, I did it because I wanted to.
I felt like a no would've been downright mean. I know the post is long, but I don't know how to express myself. I hate walls of text personally. I just felt like I had to provide SOME reasons at least. And to be honest, I don't care that much about the things I post on the internet, I don't even remember what I said most of the time myself, I could've shortened it but it would've taken too long, and I'm never going to read any of these things ever again anyway.
Guys, I'm just trying to not starve or freeze to death, that's all. I don't care about money as a whole, I just want to make something out of my life at the end of the day. And not die. Sticking to Nexus Mods means that I'm relying on someone else, and I don't want that, I don't want to stagnate personally, my own website gave me growth and an overall goal I could follow, it's the main reason as to why didn't just give up on this game. I just want to do everything as well as I can.
I need to develop some personal skills. I want to easily access all my previous work, so that I can update it if needed. I like to improve what I already have if I can. I don't know, I'm not sure what else to say. Either way, it's not about the money, never has been.
I'm just some guy who wants to make a videogame. But, I'm not going to be ordered around by someone who doesn't know what my current life situation is like. I'm not some millionaire, I have my own problems, which I need to handle first, internet strangers can wait.
Either way, using someone else's website is pretty pointless when I have my own, and when I first started out, the website wasn't even setup for content like this, it came along later on, over time, I didn't just decide to move everything overnight. I just slowly picked at it and now the website matured enough to the point where I can be on my own.
I wanted to give context as to why my post was written the way it was, but I deleted everything, I just left the first part, with the pasta and the cold, so TL:DR, the whole post was rushed, REALLY rushed, I'm being put under a ton of pressure, and all the real life stress isn't helping, I'm trying to be 100% honest and I try to mention any problems or thoughts.
I was just talking to you like I would with a girlfriend or something, it wasn't mean spirited or anything, I was just talking to you like a normal person would. That was my take on it anyway. Maybe I'm just a terrible person... I'm sorry.
Do you know of any way to lift the restriction requirement when building rooms that makes you make a room at least 2x2 before it can be built? It would be useful to be able to make some places that are only one tile wide without having to do all the extra non-sense in tricking the game to make a one tile wide room. Building directly just one tile wide would be so much more convenient.
no I never figured it out, you can try yourself but this might be hard coded
the only solution I can think of is, to try and use a memory hack, find the adress where this value is stored, and hex edit the .exe or .dll which holds this value, I was going to check the .dlls EG has with x64dbg to see if there's anything in there, but I'm still learning and I won't spend any more time on this game doing anything as time wasteful as that, seeing as I'm pretty much dying to make my game
if you want to learn some assembly and use x64dbg maybe you can figure out how to remove the limit, I don't really know how to use x64dbg to precisely get to a call I want to, but it should be easy enough to consistently trigger the call when trying to build, I don't know if the game reads that limit each time you try to build, if it reads it once, or if the game just recalculates everything each time you make one change
I like to use CrySearch as a memory hacker, all the tools needed to do this already exist, but it'll take some research, which I won't bother getting into as it's not really worth my time and I really want to release the final version of the gameplay overhaul already
evil genius isn't like skyrim, you really are stuck with what you have, unless you are willing to reverse engineer 90% of the game, you'll often have to accept some pretty half assed solutions
maybe there's something in the ATNData files, but those files make me want to kill myself, and they are such a waste of time, I don't think they would include game critical code such as this in the ATN files though, from what I've seen it's their wierd scripting system in the most part
I think a cheap memory hack trainer would be the easiest solution by far, hopefully it's just a boolean, but I never tried looking those up with CrySearch, I always mostly edit ints and floats, and I never really understood how the dissasembler works or how the pointer crap is supposed to work, didn't have enough time to research that
Thanks for the quick reply. As much as I would like to look into all that you stated, I don't see myself spending that time on a game that I'm probably only going to play for a few more weeks haha.
I tend to come back to old games, mod them up a bit, play, then move on. But that's only with older games like this where, as you stated, "you really are stuck with what you have" and you're limited to your modding. Games like Skyrim, I still play often and still mod all the time.
If while I'm playing the game and that restriction is annoying me enough to drive me into fixing it, perhaps I'll go ahead and try to figure it out. But... I don't know. I've been modding games for years. I'm a bit burnt out and just "want to play" right now XD. I spend more time modding games than actually playing them. It's time to just play. :)
Thanks again for the quick reply and information.
I'm hoping that Evil Genius 2 actually does get pushed, developed and released. That would be awesome.
I downloaded the files and now I am looking at ID files of the SABRE tourists, who I know are the tourists that WILL panic everytime they see a level 2 standard door. What do I add to their files to ensure they do not panic when seeing something harmless?
Hello again, I followed the instructions, extract to the dynamicresource folder, then delete the dynamicBin folder. And so far the game textures have transparent buildings, and white sea textures? And where to get the Blue Red Ivan skin? Are there many more of it? Link please
Only move the textures you edited into the DynamicResources folder. Delete all the textures you extracted and delete the DynamicResourcesBIN folder to fix the white textures.
Blue Ivan is on the other file. http://www.nexusmods.com/evilgenius/ajax/downloadfile?id=55
okay nvm, I think I got it. But the sea waves are square white colored? the waters are white? and the outside buildings are shiny transparent kinda? Is this suppose to be? Or I am doing it wrong again?
Sorry if I'm doing a terrible job at helping you, I don't really know what you are doing so it's kinda hard to help you.
TL DR: Essentially your folder should look like this. Delete all the other textures, you don't need them.
1. Open the DynamicResources folder. 2. Delete all the .tga textures. 3. Delete the DynamicResourcesBIN folder. 4. Only use the textures you need to replace, for Blue Ivan use Large_Henchman_Beret_A_01.tga and that's it, you don't need anything else. 5. Download this archive for the Blue Ivan texture http://www.nexusmods.com/evilgenius/ajax/downloadfile?id=55 6. Open Textures Sample, Evil Genius, DynamicResources and copy Large_Henchman_Beret_A_01.tga into the DynamicResources folder.
If it doesn't work then just delete the whole game and redownload it and only use Large_Henchman_Beret_A_01.tga
Backup the Layouts folder to keep your save games.
If not post a screenshot of your DynamicResources folder.
1. Push Win + Print to take a screenshot, the screen will flash for a moment.
The Win key looks like this
The Print key is usually over here
2. Push Win + R and type %homepath%\Pictures\Screenshots then select OK. 3. Upload your screenshot on http://imgur.com/
I uploaded it there, because I was having difficulty on uploading it on nexus mods. So that is what I did. I hope I did right. Hey bro, thank you for the in-depth explanation. I did not expect you to have time to someone like me. Your awesome! So hopefully I did the right thing this time, If it doesnt work. I'll think I will just give up on it. But the textures are really good. Its just the water and lights are white square. I dont know why. Can you please check If Im doing it right? How can you say delete my texture folder? I replaced my texture folder with yours. Thats it right?
TL DR : Don't replace it, keep it deleted, you don't need it.
You don't need to extract the whole Texture folder, you don't need that. Delete the Textures folder along with the DynamicResourcesBIN folder and don't extract it again, those are the wrong files. Once you delete it don't extract it again.
The only texture you need is the Red Ivan one, leave the Textures folder deleted. You don't need the first archive at all, those are the original not modified game textures, you don't need those at all.
Ignore the archive at the top and only get the blue one.
I'll make a separate file for the Red Ivan texture alone tomorrow, seeing as this is a modding resource, I need to clean this file up.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I'M THE DUMBEST PERSON ALIVE TODAY! I WAS VERY CONFUSED AT FIRST BECAUSE WHY WOULD YOU PUT A MOD WITH TEXTURES ON IT. I THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO USE IT. OHHHHHHHHHH THANK GOD FOR CLEARING THINGS UP! I OWE YOU SO MUCH! BY THE WAY, IF YOU DONT MIND. WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF THAT TEXTURE FOLDER YOU PUT IN THE MOD? I AM SO EMBARRASSED RIGHT NOW! WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA YOU SPOON FED ME TOO MUCH! I LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT! WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA DANG!!!!!!!!!!!!
This isn't a mod, these are files you can use to change other textures from the game itself, if there are other characters you would like to edit you can do that with the first archive.
Yes thank you, I think we should go to bed now Im sleepy too. See you 2m. Yes I saw it, damn! your the author of everything here. Just who are you? You from the game developer team or something??? You have Elixir name on your tag. If so you are a LEGEND MY FRIEND. I really like the blue Ivan. It's more of a refresh of the vanilla game you know. I must admit, I was really expecting HD textures to the game seeing your mod here. Hahahahahahahaha I love this game so much. I can compare my joy on this game to Witcher 3 playthrough.

Ctrl+F BackupAction=AA_PANICACTION and set 0.7, 0.8 to 0.0, 0.0
I don't think you need to change anything else.
Respawn the tourists and check if they panic.

If you get bored of Blue Ivan you can make him Green or Purple, whatever you like.
