How does this mod affect system performance? The Smaller Grass mod is more vRAM taxing than vanilla due to altering textures. Would this mod improve performance due to removing them?
Since this mod reduces the amount of grass items rendered per landscape unit it will definitely have some positive effect on performance. How big this effect it, I don't know. I had no performance issues with the vanilla settings, so I didn't really notice any change with this mod either.
There is. It's a bit tricky though, as not all which is defined as "grass" is actually grass in the landscape. Sometimes modders also define baby trees or shrubs as grass, so they are placed with the same logic, and worse, they may only change the meshes, so even if the name suggest "AutumnForestGrass", it might in reality be the model of a bush. So finding out which "grasses" deserve to be made smaller is a bit more fiddly than simply reducing the overall density. You basically need to manually review the model of every single grass type and how large it appears in the game. I need to have a look with a bit more time.
Well, technically it's simply editing some values. But indeed, because them using so many different and new meshes, it's a bit all over the place, so while it's easy it would still take quite some effort ;-)
