Hello and thank you for your excellent work. I have a couple of issues however.

    • Slight bug with text on the right side of the screen: Emperor- ROTMK text bug.png . EDIT: This is a consistent problem, I think? It certainly was with one mission and I skip reading the text most of the time now.
    • According to the game's page on PCGamingWiki, the v1.0.1.0 patch removes the disc check but with your res hack it's still asking me for it (yes, I still rock an optical drive). Is the article wrong? I tried modding a cracked exe but got to see your stance on piracy instead! ;)
    Cheers.

      1. Are you talking about that "... wood within nafe!them. months." problem? If not, I can't see what the problem is. But either way, did you check whether this problem is in the original game, or did you assume that my program is patching this bug into the game?

      2. Same thing as 1; did you check whether the original game no longer has a CD-check, or did you assume that my program is patching DRM into the game? You cited the PC Gaming Wiki, but who put that info on the page, and what proof does he/she have to support this claim?

Hello, would it be possible to include a polish version of 1920 x 1080? I've downloaded the "My old widescreen fixes pack" and I see that there is a polish version in there it's called  "Polish version of 1280x1024". Could you please make the same one but with 1920x1080?

I think you're misunderstanding what my mod does. It patches the EXE you have to run at the resolution you type in. I don't make game EXEs for specific resolution values. As for the old widescreen pack, as I said in the description it is provided as-is.

I'm in the process of adding support for the Polish version of the game, but (thanks to work and college) I have very little free time nowadays, so I can't give an ETA for when that will be done.

Hi,  Thank you for making this mod. Do you have a mod for the campaign editor ultrawide resolution?

      You're welcome.

No, I don't have anything that works with the campaign editor.

hello, I have a problem with the map which is not displayed at the resolution displayed on your post and as a result it is impossible for me to click on the cities from the map... only with the right arrows (I have already tried with windows compatibility but nothing)

I see you also posted about this on GamerZakh's Discord server. According to Sajuuk there, it's a bug in the original game that occasionally shows up for unknown reasons, and the solution is to reload the save, advance to the next mission or restart the game.

Hi, thanks for you hard work! I'd like to as if you are working on supporting the polish version of the emperor? If you need I can provide all the files from that version.

Thanks, but I already have a copy of the Polish version, and I'm in the process of adding support for it. It's just that (thanks to work and college) I have very little free time nowadays, so I can't give an ETA for when that will be done.

Additional settings on Windows 11 - resolution 1920x1080
This works on my laptop (Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58)

    Emperor.exe > RMB > Properties
        > Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 8
         > Change high DPI Settings
          > √ Use this settings to fix scaling problem ...
          > √ Override high DPI scaling behaviour ...

    I hope this will help.

In future, please read through the documentation I have written before asking for help. My readme (the FAQ in particular) already talks about both of the things you mentioned.

Having issues with the menus not lining up and UI going off screen.
Read the FAQ and tried the manifest file and overriding DPI to no avail. Was really looking forward to using this mod.

For info I was trying to set it to 2560x1600 which is the native resolution for my laptop (windows 11 if that makes a difference), also tried 1920x1080 just to see if that might work but same issue to a smaller scale.

There is probably some nonsense that is causing the DPI override to not work.

EDIT: On further testing there seems to be something to do with the scaling in system settings (default 150%). Tried setting it to 100% but then everything is too small and theres still clipping around the edges. ill keep playing with resolutions until something clicks.

EDIT:EDIT: Right got it to a size that seems to work, buttons are aligned in any case. it seems it was some combination of screen scaling and fullscreen that was causing earlier issues but now in windowed mode at 1700x1012 it fits nicely enough.

I'm glad you solved the problem, but I don't know why the DPI override didn't work and you had to change the system-wide DPI setting instead. The only thing I can think of is that maybe the Windows compatibility side of things got switched off somehow.

I just found and fixed an issue that I was facing, and I'm leaving this note for anyone who is facing a similar issue.

I have a very high DPI monitor, which meant that running at native resolutions wasn't an option since the HUD was too small. My monitor has a weird resolution (3456x2160), so running at 200% would require a resolution of 1728x1080.

When I applied the fix and ran the game, it wouldn't run at the resolution specified - I'd get a black screen. Alt-tabbing out and returning to the game would revert to 800x600.

The issue is that 1728x1080 isn't a known resolution for my display, so switching to that resolution seems to break the graphics driver. The solution was to create a custom resolution (using NVIDA Control Panel / Intel Graphics Center / AMD Radeon software). After creating this resolution, I launched the game and it ran at the new resolution without any issue (well, not quite - the menu on the right was offset from the right edge by ~100 px - see screenshot 7 for an example - but I can live with it).

You won't face this issue if you're trying to run at a common resolution (e.g. 2560x1440), but if you're having trouble with a custom resolution, this may fix it for you.

Hey same problem for me. Im using a old netbook with 1366x768 and it tells me 1366 is not dividable by 4 so I used 1364 instead. Works for non fullscreen but as soon as I switch back its again 800x600.

      Have a nice day :)

Yes, if you run the game in fullscreen mode, you will need to use a resolution value that your monitor supports. Alternatively, you can run the game in windowed mode (with or without something to make it borderless) and use any resolution value the game supports. This also has the advantage of better Alt-Tab support, which is the reason I personally run the game this way.

And unfortunately, the horizontal resolution value has to be divisible by 4. If it isn't, the game suffers some major rendering glitches.

Hey there, I can't seem to extract the archive. It says "The specified user does not have a valid profile", which is weird since it's the only time I've come across that error message, and I've used 7zip and WinRAR many times before. Just in case, I've read the FAQ and the installation instructions, I don't think I saw anything in there that could help me in this particular situation. Don't think that'll help much, but it's a legitimate copy of the game and NET Framework is up to date. Any ideas or workarounds ?

I've never seen that error before, and this sounds more like an OS level problem rather than anything to do with the game or my patcher.

      Damn. Thanks anyway.
Edit: Actually, I tried it again, and I don't know what happened yesterday, but I was able to extract your patcher today and it worked. Guess I just needed to reboot. Thought I'd let you know. Thanks for the high res patch !

Do not really know what resolution i should use, tryed 1920x1080, it worked but the mouse cursor is off some cm, also the build tab is gone :S

EDIT: Read the FAQ! xD fixed it.
